Elmofongo: Totalbiscuit did a report on how well DA:I is ported on PC.

joriandrake: It's a pretty bad sign if you call it "ported on PC" already, that usually means at the very least console-like controls, or just very messy ones

Coelocanth: Thank you! This game is going on my 'deep discount' list (if I bother at all). Not pleased about this Denuvo bullshit either. Can't find any solid info and their own info page leaves me looking askance and going "Yeah, so what are you hiding?" since they fail to actually answer any of the questions in their FAQ. Fuck, I guess I finally have to admit that I'm pretty much done with BioWare. Oh well, it was a good run.

StingingVelvet: From what I understand it's simply a program that runs along with the game and makes sure the .exe has not been modified in any way. I read it never connects to the internet and therefore might not be DRM depending on your definition. In any case I personally didn't have any issues with it.
Than GTA V mabye safe if thats what Denuvo does so far. And like I said people will play GTA for the Single Player Content.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will mostly likely be played for the story.

But how was the multiplayer portion of the game if you tried it?

one can edit the config of keyboard keybinds for it, no?

atleast, I think you can, based on these videos

also, as I recall you get 2 additional mini campaigns in DA3 just for multiplayer, might be totally wrong here though, am deadly tired and a tiny bit drunk atm o.O

I am sure he did and it still felt like it was made for consoles.

Third Person Real Time Melee combat rarely works well because of the camara. Thats why MMORPGs has their combat the way it is (well games like WOW and Everquest and SWTOR) I personally prefer first person for PC games it just controls better than third person.

I always liked third person, you see more of pretty surroundings too, and I am used to it for over a decade, unless it is top down view/ISO I prefer 3rd person, the only exception where I can tolerate 1st person is shooters, with a few rare (usually hybrid) genre games like Deus Ex or Morrowind.

...um I derailed a bit
In any case, perspective is not something that depends on being an MMO or console game, but sadly you can usually still easily recognize if a game was made with console sales in mind.

Personally I find first person more immersive. Especially in game like Arma which sadly most people play the game in third person for the exact same reason you said it defeats the purpose of it being a simulator.

hm

I don't like "simulators" as a genre much, but I prefer adventure games and RPG, both of which have their roots in tabletop pen and paper RPG. You know how the Game Master describes your surroundings? Looking at the scene in most games with 3rd person perspective gives me the same feeling, while 1st person feels as if I am handicapped to look through a box in just one direction.

I can't properly explain it I guess as English is not my native language, something like how a horse would see with this on their head

But aren't we all looking everywhere in first person with our eyes ;)

hmm

I am somewhat vision impaired, once I was able to see clearly to the very corners of my eyes without actually turning my eyes or head, now my field of vision is basically restricted to inside the area of my glasses, which is about half of what I once was able to see. I am pretty sure this personal situation influences my opinion already, and in addition to that I loved the old strategy/RPG games like Fallout, Septerra Core, or Jagged Alliance 2.

In the end, everyone has their own tastes and reasons :)
The PC controls are only terrible if you expect the game to play like Dragon Age Origins. For a third-person action game, which this basically is now, it controls as well as any other in my opinion.
So I got the game today as I mentioned, and it took a long time to download, about 1.5-2 hours. I am completely surprised at how it plays. I only watched gameplay videos on youtube, and I thought I was buying a dragon age style game.

This is a first person diablo. Now I am not upset about this turn of events, but it really caught me off guard, and shows how poor my ability to judge games via videos is. I usually try not to watch too much of the video at once if a game has a story so I can minimize spoilers.

I think I will like the game. The only annoyance thus far for me is the slight stutter during cutscenes due to the forced 30 fps limit during them.

there is a way to disable the forced 30 fps

Ah, maybe that's why the cutscenes appear to run so badly, I thought it was extra performance the pc couldn't handle O_o
Modding the 30fps cap on the cutscenes reportedly causes some major issues. I honestly don't even notice, but everyone's different I guess.
All I did was add this on the command line for the .exe desktop shortcut:

-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+

I know it's possible, I said I hard it can cause some issues with the game. If it's that important to you though try it out and let us know!
