predcon: That's what I'm trying to say. "I bought the game legally from a licensed merchant, so I know my key is good. I'll have no problem with the authentication process." >AFTER> "That was a lot less painful than complainants made it out to be. Probably because I purchased my copy legitimately."

orcishgamer: A lot of people have had problems with legit copies of games. Saying they don't based on your experience is anecdotal and a logical fallacy. I'm not saying even the majority of folks will have problems with DRM, but it's not really sane to discount the ones that do just because it's never been an issue for you. After all, one has to believe the DRM has been successfully removed from at least a large portion of the cracked copies out there. Well, one doesn't have to believe that, actually, I think think it's the most logical assumption until evidence to the contrary arises.
But I can call tech support and say, without fear, "My legit copy won't authenticate".

You can, I don't know how that works in most cases, a few people when they first bought Bioshock found a big "too bad" at the other end of that tech support line, though.

There's also the issue of large, multigame accounts, where a mistaken ban on any single game can bone you out of every game on the account (hello Steam).

At any rate, the point still stands, just because it's always worked for you doesn't mean it doesn't screw up for others. I also know if activation has been removed on a pirated copy there's no reason to ever have to call tech support when it won't activate.

Yeah, gotta love those Spidermooks that drop in from nowhere.

Oh, and AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHHHHH!!!!

I was at the docks doing a quest (the night time one where you have to save the kid). For me, this is one brutal fight due to the Assassin and the fact the second wave of archers arrives so quickly. Tried it, I think, 7 times and finally got almost through (just one guy left standing with only a sliver on his health bar) and... the game freezes. FUUuuuuuu...

It's even better when in outdoors fights 6 or 8 raider archers materialize right in front of your eyes like a bunch of grapes.

I'm not sure how many quests involving kids there are, if it's one quest you do for the smuggler na'lve chick who gets you in when you arrive then i did that one.

I'm doing the first run on hard and so far this fight in the 'barracks' was the tougher one, the endless waves spawnig on top of the field artillery it's insane.

Here's another thing reviews don't prepare you for ;)

Yeah, that's the one. I'm playing on Nightmare and that damned Assassin just owns me if I don't concentrate on him first. Problem is that group of bloody archers usually teleports in before I can finish him off. And archers just own my squishies.

No way! You cannot see ninjas. Way to stealthy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtR2m20C2YM :D
Not sure how late I am to the party but I came accross these links from Blue's news, seems like a couple of EA/Bioware employees wrote some glowing 10/10 reviews on metacritic without saying anything about who they were.

Here's a quote
The immersion and combat of this game are unmatched! A truly moving and fun epic. Anything negative you'll see about this game is an overreaction of personal preference. For what it is, it is flawlessly executed and endlessly entertaining.
But then someone traced them down (it's the internet after all) and the controversy blossomed.

Here's the reddit post

And a 20+ pages on Bioware Social Network

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6543337

.... Not trying to make a stand, just thought it was funny. The demo was enough for me to make a decision, which is kinda what makes the review even funnier (that and that picture of roof ninjas Namur posted). The reddit post has some updates as the story progressed :)

btw, here's a link to Blue's News for the orignal link.

Whoa those are some cutting edge graphics!
Well I assumed from the start seeing the 10/10 reviews that people at Bioware were trying to push the score up. I don't usually read those. So no surprise there.

What is surprising is that the guy was dumb enough to get caught. I mean come on, you work in the industry, you should know shit like this. Use another username at least. What's wrong in using JJameson69 for example ? :D

You have to use the battlefiled to your advantage. Oh, wait, you can't.

Seriously, good luck with that Assassin and his merry bunch of swooping archers ;)

Yeah, I was 20 minutes into the Ancient Rock Wraith fight on Nightmare last Sunday when the game CTD at 50% of his hp.

Cross class combos to kill off the Assassin real quicky. Shield Bash-> Assassin Staggered->Imp Crushing Prison->DPS all you can->before Crushing Prison goes off, cast Horror->Nuke->Paralyse->DPS->Assassin dies.

I'm near the end of Chapter 2 with Level 17 characters. Fights are now alot easier than they were when I'm below Level 10. Also the more I play now, the more disappointed I get with the game. The repetitive dungeons kill of all immersion for me, the mansion dungeon, the mine, all of them same.
