cw8: Booya, after the 7th attempt, Nightmare, counting the one that CTD. The whole fight took about 40 mins for me.

Fight itself is not impossible. His damage isn't that huge at all, infact Aveline was attacking all the while without moving to evade. I felt the 2 Assassin Ship Captains was worse. It's just tedious as heck and you need to move alot. Some mechanics were copied from WoW's bosses like hiding behind pillars. Watch out for the little things he summons, can wipe your ranged if not countered immediately.
This fight is CRYING for an overhead view, it's a real pain to fight it without the overhead.
Oh my God those assassin ship captains on hard were a paaaaaaiiiiiin. In contrast the big rock dude was a piece of cake for me.
Anyone noticed the name of that mercenary company in chapter 1 was the Nevarra Winters? :D I liked that.
Anyone know if there is a variable that can be set in a config file to set the demo to finished in order to get the in game Hayden's Razor without having to play through the demo?

The Assassin bosses are idiotic. Only way to counter them so far for me is to dps them real fast. Shield Bash, Assassin gets Staggered, Improved Chain Lightning on them, at the same time Improved Crushing Prison, then Archer's Lance and 2X Winter's Grasp.
Finished. I will refrain from commenting on the story till others have as well.

The demo's maybe a 1/2 hour. Why not just finish it?

Just hate to have to play it through twice that's all.

I'm 31 hours in and just started Chapter 2.
Did the starting quests in Chapter 2, it's back to wave after wave of enemies again.

Yeah, I concentrate on them as well. People playing nightmare on the Bioware forums talk about positioning their characters against a wall to prevent backstabbing, which is kind of amusing.

My main issue with hard mode is how easy it is to be knocked-back and lose an ability. I can't tell you how many times my mage has died because of constant knock-backs preventing him from healing or taking a potion. I know the thing to do there is have my warrior or rogue rush in with an AoE knock-back or stun, but sometimes that just isn't possible.

The game accidentally placed my characters backs against the wall once, it worked.
Use your warrior tank to taunt them off your mage, that's what your tank is for :D Always advance with your warrior first and get arggo from as many mobs as possible.

Or you can hold position in a room or corridor, use your tank to lure one the mobs to your position, and dmg them as much as possible before they arrive.
It seems that just about any part with Templars is ridiculously hard. :P

*Spoilers*

I started the part in the main quest for chapter 2 where you have to go and see what happened to the Qunari that when missing after meeting with the Viscount. I found them with the Templar and a mob of fanatics and decided I would kill them to save the Qunari. I don't know if that's a worthwile choice or not given what happens in the cutscene after my choice but the fight that comes next is crazy. I might restart it and go get Fenris since he's pretty good at dealing out a lot of damage but right now my party is Anders (with Panacea active), Merrill and Aveline and we are being annihilated. We do pretty alright for a while but then the Templar casts some kind of aura that heals the fanatics and things just go south from there. :S I'll probably rethink my party and restart that bit cause it is definitely not going well with the way I'm running it right now.
Wow. Fenris, Sebastian, Gascard and the Invisible Sisters just so happen to have the same interior designer, same furnisher and construction workers.

There are more like Bartrand's house. Clearly the Free Marches have not discovered electricity or gunpowder but they have found IKEA.
Holy crap. Anyone did the Abandoned Thaig in Sundermount in Chapter 2, the one with a Golem selling a 84g ring inside? 1 word to describe, crazy, CRAZY number of mobs...
Luckily managed to lure a manageable wave at a time in the corridor.

Also, anyone got any dedicated lockpicking character? So far I can't open my complex locks.
