CalamityRanger: Basically as long as it's longer than Awakening (which has been confirmed and I feel was fantastic for an expansion pack) and the story is good, I know I'll be happy.

cw8: Awakenings is horribly short, I hope it's way longer than Awakenings.
I thought it was a pretty good size for an expansion personally. I'm at the Dragon Bone Wastes now and have been playing for 20 hours (it's padded of course by running around trying to do the various little fetch quests and such off the Chanter's Board). I got a lot of fun out of it for my first playthrough of it. I'll definitely be playing through it again with my other characters eventually.
So, is the demo locked on medium settings?? B/c I want to buy it for PC but my comp couldn't run the demo too well.

Locked on Medium for DX9 and Medium or High for DX11.
Everyone can now check their BioWare profiles, the new DLC has been unlocked. They passed the million downloads easily as expected.
Just finished Awakening so I'll retract my earlier wishing of getting to see more the Warden's story. The epilogue really did feel like the same way Throne of Bhaal basically tied up BG2, the full details of the Warden's life are not quite spelled out for us, but imagination always can fill in the gaps. :) I'm very satisfied with how it turned out.

Very glad to hear they reached their mark on the download. I'll go take a look at my BioWare profile before pondering whether or not to start Golems tonight.

How can you tell ? ;)

With people spamming the download link overnight and Bioware arbitrarily cutting down the numbers in the morning, how is anyone supposed to know how many valid login's where actually made from within the demo ? Seriously, they might as well have gone with yoyo.gif in place of that counter.

Having said that, people spamming a link for two lousy items that Bioware in all likelyhood would have unlocked anyway it's pathetic.
Bah! Now they have a facebook contest to unlock a third bloody item.

This is stupid. Can't they just give us all the items in the game like they did in Baldur's Gate.

I'm betting (like many others) that they will anyway. This is all just a gimmick to hype the game and drum up traffic.
So I just got the following email to the account I use for XBox Live:

"There's still time to pre-order Dragon Age II.
If you are having trouble viewing this email, please click here.
Thanks for playing the demo. Visit the official site for Dragon
Age II World, videos, wallpapers, and more."

Plus a bunch of other marketing drivel.

I guess I always figured they tracked your playtime and on what games, but do they have to fucking rub it in your face? It's insulting. They've plastered the damned world with ads, like I wouldn't know it was coming out even if I'd never cared to play a RPG in my life!

I'm so turned off right now.

Yeah, I think they'll eventually do an "Ultimate Edition" like they did for DAO: a year or so after release once they've wrapped up all the dlc and are working on the third title. Still, the absurd level of hype that they're trying to generate for DA2 (and the really low quality of the later dlc for DAO) pushed me to cancel my pre-order of the game. I respect DAO and had fun with it, but I don't like the franchise enough to tolerate the marketing and the constant threats--yes, they are threats--of being sold an incomplete product at full price.

As I have said before

I dont know whether this is EA's or Bioware's doing but they are basically saying: "If you don't preorder the game 3 months in advance and buy it on release day - then you aren't getting the full game"

This is Dragon Age: Origins and Mass effect 2 all over again - they want to nickel and dime as much as they can, there is a very good reason why they are focusing so much on the 360 platform

I'll let you folks put 2 and 2 together
Looks like there are also a bunch of items you get from playing the facebook version of DA... not really interested, I'm also not interested in paying full price for this, so I'll wait a few months for a drop. I have too many other games to finish anyway like I-War 2, Psychonauts, probably going to get shogun 2, and whenever Skyrim and Deus Ex come out.
Character Generation and difficulty level unlocked, DA2 demo mod.

Just tried a Fireball at Hawke's feet in Nightmare and...kaboom ;)
