KingOfDust: I always tought that if they absolutely have to include copy-protection in their single-player games, they should give us the choice of either a disk-check or online activation.
They did just that with Bad Company 2... shame they didn't repeat that. In any case its more about used sales than it is about piracy. A disc check means used copies are fine and they don't want that.

At the end of the day a one-time activation doesn't bother me much and I am sure it will be easy to circumvent one day if the need arises. My biggest issue right now is that the demo made me want to play the full game but it's still 10 days away!

This is exactly where I'm at. :P I know I still have Awakening to finish and will probably grab a few of the other DLCs. but the demo got me really intrigued for DA2 and the wait is killing me.
OMG fuming now! Well, not really.

PC users watch it, its console footage of a mage in the chantry. Turns out CONSOLES have better AoE camera control. When you trigger an AOE spell, the camera shifts to focus on the AoE target area... yeah... better camera control than PCs!

Cynic = EFFFFFFFFF UUU!!!!!!!
Idealist = Console demo is made from newer build and PC will have this too.

I read on the BioWare boards earlier today that this will also work the same way on\ the PC version. It's not enabled in the demo though.

Yeah. Wish I could find that bloody thread now. Starting to think I imagined it.

Well that explains why I couldn't figure out why people were having camera issues targeting AOE.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no one should buy this on release for PC until it's clear that it's not a shitty port, because there's been a couple warning signs already.

I think they were fine with it there because of the multiplayer component.
God damn it, I still need to finish Origins.

Delixe: Having messed around with the toolset I will go one further and bet you a GOG there is an Isometric mod within 6 weeks of the games launch.
Well Bioware excuse for dropping top camera was that it was impossible to have one because of the new "improved" level design, so it would be funny if somebody manages to bring it back in only 6 weeks.

Speaking of modders I hope there are some really motivated ones, if some could :

-Bring back the top camera or at least allows the camera to move freely
-Change the companion AI/whatever so that when you gives them a target they continue attacking their designated target on not stop with no reason. (I still hope this is a bug)
-Change the spells and abilities to make them more "tactical/friendly fire" friendly.
-Bring back the ability to freely change and customize companion equipments.

... then I wouldn't mind the new combat system :)

Personally something I think they should do (I don't know if it's already the case in console version), is to have a targeting system like for example in older Final Fantasy, where you can cycle through possible enemies (or allies for healing or buffing).

You pause the game and pressing up or down you cycle through possible enemies, with the camera centering on them.

It's shame to have that when you have a mouse but it would made targeting less painful for ranged characters.

Sometimes you want to place an AOE spell between (or in front of) enemies though. This system doesn't allow for that.

I was more thinking of it as a complement of the actual system, instead of having the camera stuck on your selected character it would be stuck on the actually selected enemy... of course it would only be a poor substitute of the old tactical view of DAO but better than nothing.

I honestly had no issue with AoE spells in the demo. The camera is far enough back to get some decent distance out of it and enemies effected highlight when you are placing the spell, so you know who is getting hit.

Personally I didn't had any issue with AoE either, but the fact that FF is off is probably helping.

On the other side I had tons of issue trying to position my characters, because where I wanted them to go was obscured by enemies or other part of the level, and had tons of issue trying to target a specific issue (and the fact that allies stop attacking randomly when in passive mode didn't help)

Oh definitely, I can't imagine FF with that camera system, which is surely why it is on nightmare difficulty only. I have no real desire to play with FF on though, because the game was made without FF in mind, so it likely is frustrating to force it on. Games usually play best when played as intended, in my experience.

Hmm, I don't remember having any issues there but I did have tactics and stuff off.
