Dr.M. has stolen our marketing plans, taken our game masters, absconded with our video trailers, and pilfered our contracts! Coala suggests that we should track down the evil Dr., but how in the world can we do that? We know that he has our "Get HUGE" formula, and we suspect that Dr. M. is going to the headquarters of our next publisher--and we know it's one of the five we've already mentioned in our CDP Days Conference this Spring. One of our clever developer guys pointed out that the only way that Dr. M. could have found GOG's secret headquarters (as opposed to our regular, non-secret one) would be to have put a tracking device somewhere. We've tracked Dr. M's tracker (ha! Take that, evil!) and we're plotting his location on a world map with each of our possible upcoming publishers' locations in them. Keep tuned for more updates as we triangulate on the signal and try to track down...the DASTARDLY DR. M.!

the mysterious Dr. M. made his appearance was way back in September, when we re-launched and moved the service out from the beta. Now, with the big announcement quickly approaching, it seems that Dr. M. has come out of the shadow once again. What's he up to this time? Find out more in the tale of great horror, entitled "Dr. M. & The Dastardly Doom". What horrors await? What grim future is coming to GOG.com?

We'll be posting the next pages of the comic in the next days so stay tuned to this news post as the story will reveal more info on Dr. M. and the secret briefcase!

etsy: Regarding the comic. Isn't LA = Los Angeles kind of redundant considering the E3 part? I don't think there's a bunch of E3's to choose from. There's also the fact that it is Location, Date, Location (less specific) which is weird.
You left out a possible breakdown: it could be Event, Date, Location. In which case, the "LA" could just be "Los Angeles"...

I'm hoping for EA.
Well whichever one it ends up being, I have a feeling I'll be broke pretty rapidly. In fact it'd better be a $6 game first because I've not quite got $10

I am hoping if we get Wing Commander that we get 1, 2 & 3 as one purchase. As much as I like the first 2 games, they'd be a bit of a tough sell alone but I'd happily pay 10 bucks for a pack of 3. Kind of like how the Ultima collection was released with 0-8 and then 9 seperately, that'd be a good way to go as well.

For Lucasarts, it'd be a pretty rare game I'd not buy. About the only one I can think of would be yoda stories
Ultima Underworld will be released on GOG tomorrow, with a possible second game as well.
It begins...

Stop getting my hopes up, Mr. Crusader.

couggod: I'm going to fathom a guess and say its EA
here's my reasoning:

Vellllly intellesting! Yeah, they could be clearing the way for GOG to be the official "go-to" house for all-things-Ultima.

One thing that article forgot to mention... there were also lots of game magazines in the 90s that used to pack-in CDs with free PC demos and such, and several included the full version of Ultima IV. I know I've got at least 3 different game mag CDs with full U4 on it. I already own U7-9 but never picked up U5 and U6. Hope GOG gets 'em all!

Oh, and the World of Ultima adventures (Savage Empires, Martian Dreams) I'd love to have too. Could be a good summer!

You know they'll likely post another teaser in the morning before the announcement. Just to keep us speculating.

No. I covered that earlier in the paragraph that you are quoting from. There is only one E3 which is located in L.A. E3 is not a network of conventions which are distributed around the state, country, world. There is no E3 Tokyo for instance. Looking at the map on E3's website, it seems that E3 is even limited to a single building. Hence location is defined by the event, and why Los Angeles in the third field is not only redundant, but the info is inferior to what is provided in the first. To put it in database terms Los Angeles would be considered derived information and would thus be excluded from a properly designed database (like you would list birthdate and exclude age).

That said, gog probably crafted the clue with multiple interpretations in mind to, at the very least, encourage discussion (like Inception cutting out before the top falls). This could all be misdirection, and they will come back and say "L.A. meant Los Angeles and things like reason and logic don't apply to Dr. M".

You kind of missed my point, though. Remember that this whole thing is the "Location of" the big reveal. As such, the location = LA, event = E3, date = date-stamp.

However, this whole point is moot...since E3 has been hosted in other locations. Additionally, the date given (6/2) does not fall within the date range of this year's E3 (6/7-6/9) . I dunno...it just seems kind of a leap to think that E3 HAS to = Los Angeles, and because of that, "LA" HAS to = LucasArts.

Hmm...but if the date in the clue falls outside of the event dates... what could it possibly mean???

Here is a thought on it coming from a cryptology point of view.
E E E 2 / 6 L A
L U C A S A R T

I know it might be a stretch but when you combine it with the name for this episode Dr. M and
the dastardly doom it makes more sense. indiana jones and the temple of doom anyone?
I could be wrong, but if it's EA does this mean we could see dungeon keeper 2 in the future? :) if so ..*does a little happy dance*
