Dr.M. has stolen our marketing plans, taken our game masters, absconded with our video trailers, and pilfered our contracts! Coala suggests that we should track down the evil Dr., but how in the world can we do that? We know that he has our "Get HUGE" formula, and we suspect that Dr. M. is going to the headquarters of our next publisher--and we know it's one of the five we've already mentioned in our CDP Days Conference this Spring. One of our clever developer guys pointed out that the only way that Dr. M. could have found GOG's secret headquarters (as opposed to our regular, non-secret one) would be to have put a tracking device somewhere. We've tracked Dr. M's tracker (ha! Take that, evil!) and we're plotting his location on a world map with each of our possible upcoming publishers' locations in them. Keep tuned for more updates as we triangulate on the signal and try to track down...the DASTARDLY DR. M.!

the mysterious Dr. M. made his appearance was way back in September, when we re-launched and moved the service out from the beta. Now, with the big announcement quickly approaching, it seems that Dr. M. has come out of the shadow once again. What's he up to this time? Find out more in the tale of great horror, entitled "Dr. M. & The Dastardly Doom". What horrors await? What grim future is coming to GOG.com?

We'll be posting the next pages of the comic in the next days so stay tuned to this news post as the story will reveal more info on Dr. M. and the secret briefcase!

asb: other than needing to use wine to extract the game files from the setup exe they could be marketed as being Mac and Linux compatible with very little additional work.
Sure, but "works with" and "officially supported" are two very different things. GOG states just the latter to not get support questions about the former, that's what the community can help with.

I get that, though advertising Mac support could lead to higher sales. Also, the scummvm and DOSBox titles are definitely low-hanging fruit for this. I'm pretty sure that in interviews gog have said that the DOSBox and scummvm titles require far less support than the others. The fact is, once you've verified a game works well in scummvm/DOSBox on windows you can be pretty sure it works just as well on both Mac and Linux.

You know, when I look at that final picture of the Monk with the suitcase, all I see is:

There's a second page of the Dr M comic. How many previous GOG announcements can you think of where the buildup lasted only a single day?!
Please please PLEASE be Lucasarts! I would KILL for the X-Wing series on GOG! I already own all of the LEC games on Steam, but would gladly buy them again on GOG (especially if Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith included music). Please don't be another collection of adventure games, GOG has way to many of them as it is (I like adventure games but I try to keep a balanced diet with my gaming collection), though if it was Monkey Island I wouldn't mind...its GOTTA be Lucasarts. I think they're the only big-name publisher that GOG doesn't have a deal with, either that or ID Software. I hope its not ID because I already own all their games via Steam.

I'm hoping for a big announce tomorrow...involving systems being shocked and thieves trampsing about in the night.

jamyskis: Could certainly be Doom, but Doom is an Activision IP at the moment (and GOG has already signed up with Activision), and id technically isn't a publisher. Besides, id doesn't actually have THAT many games.
I think id is/ was their own publisher for DD (I guess they're Zenimax now). They're listed as a publisher on Steam for instance. Combine id developed titles with the heretic/hexen series plus Bethesda's catalog and there are plenty of games.
It would be Square Enix. Doctor blue/green suit is for Hitman. In the first game Hitman was wearing pacient's clothes, which were the exact same color. Also, this could be the doctor who created hitman.

But TheEnigmaticT said new games won't be as exciting as DeusEx, and if we get SE onboard there's no way we won't get DeusEx asap. So, from the Big 5, SE is last option for me.
