Okay, this is going to be a bit controversial ...
1. Steam - Have only ever had one or two minor issues with the platform, and the sales are incredible!
2. GOG - DRM free goodness! :)
3. Games For Windows Live - The controversial one. I haven't had a single problem with any of the games I've purchased from GfWL (mostly the launch sales). The only negative was the sudden removal of Kane & Lynch a couple of weeks ago.
4. GamersGate (UK) - Blue coins!
5. Direct2Drive (UK) - Never had any issues with any of my purchases from D2D, and I actually quite like their Comrade downloader, which picks up games installed on my hard drive that weren't necessarily purchased from them.
6. Sandlot Games - Free game every Monday!
7. EADM - Doesn't work on my system.

I appreciate everyone's post! Thanks to you guys, I've added some great sites to my favorite places.
I now am registered at (and have made a few purchases):
Big Fish Games
Sandlot Games
Get Games
and
Green Man Gaming
Anybody else have any other sites that they like to check out?
And mnillar - no controversy at all. I'm glad that you were able to get GFWL to work for you.
Obviously they must have lots of happy customers, or they wouldn't still be in business - I just don't happen to be one of them!

Telltale Games and DotEmu (the closest thing to competition GOG has) deserve to be mentioned. I'm not so fond of Back to the Future and I don't like the look of Jurassic Park, but the rest of Telltale's catalogue shouldn't be ignored.
Also you might want to note that D2D is a Rupert Murdock company.

I was about to make a thread about Impulse but a wee search brought this on to my attention.
Im wondering why Impulse can still survive when they seem to be the most expensive, half thier catalogue is region locked and the dont even seem to have any decent offers, what gives?

Gamersgate seems to be peaking my interest the more people say more good things in this thread. I notice they are based in europe like gog, does that affect the pricing at all for say; Canada.
I'm also thinking about Bigfish cause of their adventure games.
Also does either of these have a big drm or stuff like limited downloads integrated, just asking.

Andy_Panthro: Gamersgate is a great site, in my opinon.
They do stock stuff with various types of DRM though, but it should be listed on the games information page. If you have any queries, try asking their support.
You also get blue coins (store credit) with each purchase, so you can build these up to get a free game.
Basically, if it's not on GOG I'll probably get it through GG. Steam is a last resort (exceptions being certain sales).
There is some region-locking though, but their selection is pretty large now, probably the largest out there. They even offer Steamworks games, so you could buy them there and then activate through steam.
Downloads are generally pretty fast too.

BigFish has a its own DRM - GameManager - which all their games run through. However it does automatically update the games. (which someone finds annoying, I call it a plus). As far as I know there is no restrictions on number of downloads, bandwidth and such.

I usually buy from GamersGate for newish games, although, depending on pricing, I'll buy from Steam as I have nothing against them. Both work well enough for me. GOG for anything older/DRM free. All of my experiences with TellTale's store have been decent, as well. I only tried GFWL once, and that was for Fable. I have no intention to buy from them again, although that one experience came out all right. Anything involving Digital River is absolute shit.
Everything else I've never tried, nor do I have any intention of ever trying them.

No, they have region specific sites, so the one I view (UK) is in GBP£, no doubt you'd get one in USD$.
However, their prices are good and there are plenty of sales, and there aren't too many region locked games (in fact the only one I can recall is Drakensang: River of Time).
Only way to be sure if the prices are good for you is to look at the website I suppose.

My ranking would be:
#1 - Steam
I've never had a problem with Steam. My only complaint is that the service uses up my bandwidth like Bit Torrent does. If I'm downloading on Steam, I can't do anything else. The only time I've ever had a problem with Steam is during Holidays when downloads are slow/unable to start due to high demand. But who can blame them for that? The DRM issue is valid, and the fact that I don't "own" any game I buy on there does bug me but it's still minor to me. I have bought some games off Steam that I feel Steam should put warnings on, or not offer at all. SR2 and the Gothic games come to mind. Broken pieces of garbage that I can't refund. Steam is also useful for online gaming / communication which is nice. Plus you can work the Steam Overlay system with many games not on Steam making it almost a hub of central gaming.
#2 - GOG
Again, never had a problem with the service itself. I *do* hold some resentment over a few of the games I've bought, but that was more my fault for buying games with notorious bugs and thinking I could fix them through modifications. But GOG's always reliable, and hell they gave me a free game. Can't complain. I do wish they'd have more sales though because I'm a cheap bastard.
#3 - Gamers Gate
Gamersgate is reliable, but I don't like it as much as the top two. The site sometimes doesn't work well, and I'm not a big fan of the way it downloads games (requiring you to manually download installer filers to download your games through) and I have gotten poor speeds from the service before. I wouldn't even know where to go for technical support either, but overall it's a fine service with nice savings.
#4 - Games for Windows Live
I actually own a game on GfWL that I've never downloaded. I'm not a fan of the service, but you can use Microsoft Points (or you USED to be able to) to buy games. Since I have a 360, I always have some points laying around I can't frickin use. So that's kind of nice. If they've removed that ability, then this becomes the last on the list.
#5 - Direct 2 Drive
I really dislike D2D *A LOT* which is funny since I've used it so often. I had D2D actually ban my debit card due to a glitch on their phone verification system that I had to manually have reset by a employee. On top of that, download speeds range from "okay" to atrocious. Deals aren't very good compared to other DD stores and their classification system for games is ass backwards. Offering a discount on all RPGs but then listing games with no RPG elements as applicable while denying games *WITH* RPG elements? The hell? I also find the site clunky, so it really doesn't have any upside to me other then the fact that I already own games on the site. Thankfully most of them go through Steam nowadays.

Already posted this on Didimatic, but feel it should be shared here too:
Well, I have to say that I'm now very disappointed with GamersGate. I pre-ordered Shogun 2 as a gift from them, under the impression that a copy of Rome: Total War and 14,200 Blue Coins were part of the deal. The order went through no problem, I got the 14,200 Blue Coins. However, I later discovered that a copy of Rome: Total War hadn't been added to the account of the person I bought Shogun 2 for, so I emailed them and asked them about it.
I was told that it was some error at their end, and they had now added Rome: Total War to his account. I confirmed this with the person I bought it for, and it had indeed been added to their account. Problem solved, you would think. No, they decided to then deduct 14,200 Blue Coins from my account and now claim that the offer was for a free copy of Rome: Total War OR the 14,200 Blue Coins.
Maybe I got it wrong, but I was very much under the impression that the Blue Coins AND Rome: Total War were part of the deal, especially as other digital distributors were offering a free copy of Rome: Total War as well, but at a cheaper price. The offer I expected was the reason I ordered from GamersGate in the first place, but now I just feel ripped off.
My email questioning their decision has been ignored by customer support.
