Reynbow: Okay one final question which... I don't really expect an answer for... but I'll ask anyway.

What if I have a copy of Witcher 2 already that I got from, let's say a friend, that was not purchased, rather downloaded for free from some dubious sites.

The save file I currently have on it, would it be able to be used with the purchased version.
Yes I fully intend on buying it, which is why I ask all these questions.
I don't see why not. There are no hidden protections in the game to prevent it, as far as we're aware.

Ubivis: This is easy... you get a Serial Key for Witcher 2 that you can register with CD Project RED. With this registration, you can also buy DLC.

Coelocanth: As noted by hobbes, DLC is free. No need to buy. CDPR has stated DLC will be free for the game, so there should never be a need to buy it. ;)
Nobody knows... if they come up with something big, they might decide to charge later... :)

Ubivis: Nobody knows... if they come up with something big, they might decide to charge later... :)
Other than the fact they have come out and said that all DLC would be free. So charging for it would go against previous statements and be bad for PR.

Reynbow: I'm trying to figure out exactly how GOG sells it's games.
Is it just that you recieve a Game key and instructions on how to download the game from the distributor or through Steam or whatever else? I'm somewhat confused and it's making me hesitant to use this site. (However pretty it may be =P)

And I'm mostly asking for the purpose of Witcher 2. Can it be used in conjuction with Steam? Achievements and all. Do I get a Steam key?

EDIT: Sorry if this is ridiculously newby =]
TW2 and a few other games do have keys associated with them. However, apart from TW2, you only need those keys for online and it's solely because the servers won't accept your connection without them. If you need a key for one of those games you'd have to contact customer service.

TW2 needs a key for updating, and that's it. I'm not sure if they've given up on that as the first patch was available here for download.

Kotaku article.

There is a difference be between joke PR stunts and going back on your word. And while CDPRed and gog are both part of the same parent company, they have different staffs and different ways of doing things in the PR realm.

When DLC is available you are expected to undergo the Trial By Fire which all Tau Fire Warriors must pass. You will be sent into combat with a squad of Shas'la just like yourself and you will be led by a brave Shas'el. Hopefully one day you will join the ranks of the Shas'el.

Passing your Trial By Fire will allow you to advance through the ranks of the Fire Caste and regain the DLC you wish for.

They have sail DLC will be free, if they create a full blown expansion though...

Well... I view expansions as different as they usually also contain some new systems or significant overhauls to existing ones. Or full a full campaign as opposed to the single adventure you would get in a DLC. Also Expansions are generally available at retail in brick and mortar stores, while DLC is not.

I think the point is, CDPRed will never pull a "horse armor" with DLC; they view simple add-ons like that as added value to the existing purchase, not a means of leeching more money out of their customers. A full-blown expansion is a different animal entirely. Before the advent of DLC and greedy micro-transactions, expansions were always an additional purchase because they are essentially a whole new game. I would not fault CDPRed for following/returning to that standard in the slightest.
