I heard about Garrett Holeve doing MMA earlier this year from a special about him on ESPN. Here's a youtube link if you want to watch it. It's actually a pretty cool story in my opinion.

if by downrepping you consider a variant of this quote towards the derepper, its always going to be better! ;)

...and Licurg - no idea man! - My mate has severe CP and is training in martial arts so why the fuck not?! - He has some serious strength too!
The only thing that disgusts me is the article. I am offended by mmamania naming the story what they did, and cracking a joke at Holeve's disability at the end. Skip mmamania's cynical article, and go straight to USA Today's article.

I think it is great. These are 2 guys who love fighting, and just want to be seen as the equal human beings that they are. What the hell is wrong with that?

scampywiak: This is disgusting if it's real. A freak show.
That was certainly my first reaction, but on second thought ... you can have mild Down's Syndrome or Cerebral palsy and still be a perfectly functional human being. If MMA is where their interests lies, it's a fine thing that they can overcome their handicaps and compete against each other.

my mate has severe CP - recently voted one of the happiest people in the UK, and recieved many other awards.
Care to rethink / rephrase your post at all?

Edit: conversation cleared. No bigotry in the intent of the user BadDecissions!

Sure.

Function perfectly well in society. Not need to be protected and coddled from pursuing his interests.

Obviously my phrasing was awful, but I meant well.

Ah, another bigot!

Edit: twice ive quoted you posting entirely the wrong kinda thing. You then edited your last post to be more "appeasing" after I called you a bigot. I'll choose to believe this last post I quotes was simply a mistake on your part - an elongated typo, and not some attempt at humour.

You are almost certainly reading something into that phrase that isn't actually there.

Edit: all I'm trying to say is that people are people, and having Down's or Cerebral Palsy doesn't somehow disqualify people from pursuing their interests, so why shouldn't they do MMA? I'm sorry that my inconsiderate phrasing has obscured that and given offense,

I was being a smart ass actually. I don't condone this one bit.

That was actually a pretty great watch, thanks!
I've never really been that much into MMA but there was a pretty good boxing match on last night.
