Blodskur: Just got this email telling me that during the beta the following will be free for the specified dates: Nicky Boom 28th - 29th April, Metal Mutant 30th April - 1st May, Maya 2nd - 3rd May and Transarctica 4th - 5th May. Can't complain for that price.

And these free games will be added permanently to the "my account" section there? Or they'll be just a temporary download link (10 days)?

Thanks to un for seen events. a traveling merchant who has a rare item form a time lost to the past.will have to take a detour that will lead him to greenwood.
We need you to get this item for us. [pulls out a book] here is what the item should look like.all we care about is that item you can keep the rest of what the merchant may have of worth.we are willing to pay you 3000 gold coins to carry this out.
[pulls out a map form backpack] if you wish to take up the job use this map to find the road the merchant will be taking. You know what to do when the merchant gets there.[hands a map over to judas]then once you have done the deed use the map to find us.then you will be paid. One last thing. We are the big r on the map and the road were the merchant will be passing by is the big m on the map.

Those games will be forever in your account.

It's permanent. For example the free period for Ishar is over but it's still available on my account page.
The Ishar and Robinson's Requiem picture links on the following page are complete copy-pastes of those found on GoG. That's low.

Suffice to say this isn't a place I'll be spending even the time to register to maybe get a game I've never heard of for free, let alone any hard cash. Going into a competitive market by ripping off the competitors assets isn't going to go over well with the more perceptive customers.

Thanks, my neo-latin language sibling.

And thanks.
Too bad I didn't got Ishar 1 the other day, I thought it was for the whole week like BaSS and Drascula(?), but it wasn't.
And we have to recognize this, giving away 50% of their PC catalogue for free... is a smart business move, high profit lesson there guys. :)

BASS and Drascula were released as freeware by the developersso will always be free forever on any sites they turn up on.

Yeah, I know that BaSS is forever. But never heard of that Drascula, so thought that it and Ishar 1 would be for a week/whatever.
Not a problem though, If I wanted Ishar I would get the pack here from GOG.

Considering that dotEmu is the publisher of both games...maybe GOG got their assets from dotEmu themselves?

DotEmu publishes titles on various digital distribution services despite having their own one. EA and a few other publishers do this too. This practise sounds a bit strange but it enables publishers to sell to a far wider audience; they won't make as much money per copy as they would through their own service, of course, but it means they can sell to those who haven't even heard of their own service or only buy through one or two particular services and nowhere else.

Zeewolf: Again, it's the value that counts, not the currency. There is no such thing as a "better" currency.
avatar
bansama: You obviously don't follow exchange rates.

It has nothing to do with exchange rates. What you're saying is that A = C, B = C and A > B. It's just not possible. You're saying that if I take a price, any price in euros, and convert it to yen, then take the euro price, convert it to dollars and THEN convert it to yen, I'll end up with two different prices in yen. That is impossible. Unless your bank is very very dishonest.

Wishbone: *snip*

I'm not going to waste anymore time trying to explain it. The simple fact is, I will not purchase anything that is priced in Euros. End of.
