So Cygnus made a deal with Gog, Dotemu and GG at the same time?
and it says that it will be on GOG in 4 days, so it's gonna be next tuesday release.
I do love Raptor, it's one of the best shmups.
Not sure if I rate it higher than Tyrian, but it's certainly close.
Of course the big bonus of getting it from GOG is the soundtrack, which if I remember correctly is pretty good.
YES.
I've been waiting to see Raptor on GOG since the day Apogee came on board. I'll be buying this as soon as it arrives.
I could name 5 better SHUMPs than Raptor but then we would need Amiga emulation *sigh*
Still adds more variety to the GOG roster.

Arkose: For those curious about the "enhanced graphics" it looks like this isn't actually an updated version of the game--they have simply enabled one of DOSBox's smoothing filters.

Not sure where they're getting the info from, but Wikipedia says:
"This version of the game, ported by DotEmu, is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 32 and 64 bits. It fixes all the old Windows version issues and allow you to play in different resolutions (640*400, 960*600 and 1280*800). The nostalgics can still play with the original rendering but enhanced graphics are also available."
Edit: press release says "Raptor: Call of the Shadows 2010 Edition will ensure a full compatibility with lastest computers and operating systems as well as providing enhanced graphics."
Hope it allows the higher resolutions.

Let's not forget the awesomeness that the SNES gave us: Axelay! Not that we should forget Super R-Type and Super SWIV either.

Well I didn't bring the SNES into this because of Nintento but yes there was also R-Type 3 and Area 88 not to mention Super Probotector
I really like Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth and Einhander.

Oh fuck yes! I loved this game, and after seeing this topic posted last night I was planning to buy it through either DotEmu or Gamersgate, but was thinking "I sure wish GOG had it so I could get it from them instead." And less than a day later here we are. I'm looking forward to see how much my fingers remember this game after 15 years or so.
So how does this differ from the version sold directly from Mountain King Studios (nee Cygnus Studios)?
http://www.mking.com/raptor_game.html It says it's compatible with Win7
Also, you should really check out the prequel, "Galactix", and the sequel series, "Demonstar".

Are these prequels and sequels in the sense that they are in the same universe and continue the story? Or are they just other games from the same team?
So this will be the Tuesday's release .
