DotEmu sells the same DRM-free games u find here.
any comment?
If that was true, good? Competition is good for the customer.
Competition is good for the company too. Otherwise, they wouldn't push as hard to be bring consumers a better product.
Are they DRM free? A cursory check of their site did not seem to indicate anything regarding DRM.
As for the question at hand, DotEmu is only one of many different places selling the same games as GOG, they are just another fish in the same pond.

They're DRM-free.
DotEmu focus on older games just like GOG. Making them about the only direct competition GOG have right now. Price wise they're typically more expensive than GOG. But some games are cheaper there. Siberia springs to mind as one example.
So yeah, it's good to have some competition. Hopefully this will prompt GOG to hurry up with the Windows 7 support as DotEmu already offer it as standard (not to say that most GOGs don't already work with 7 mind).
Well.. They're not really a big competitor. Their catalog is much smaller, and most of the games are more expensive. The only thing I think they to better is that some of the smaller very old games are pretty cheap.
Never "played" with DotEmu, but I think the more retro-digital delivery services out there the better.....
I will always prefer big expensive boxes and a little percentage of digital stuff for my purchases anyway :-P
I got some freebies from them when they were having a starting promo.
Games run pretty nice (although the DOS titles are using an ultra-smooth filter for some reason, ruining the game a bit in some cases). Since the games are so old, most probably didn't even have DRM when new.
As for if none of the DotEmu games have DRM, that I don't know. But I think it's safe to assume :)

ah, sorry! in this case, this thread should be closed by admins.

Don't be, only posted it for reference if needed, new thread is fine by me . . . =)
DotEmu could definitely shape up to be a serious contender, and as I pointed out somewhere else a few days ago, they're expanding their catalogue at a faster rate than GOG are (which is fairly natural, of course, as they need to catch up, and I bet many companies are easier to negotiate with after GOG has shown them that this business model works).
In my opinion it's good news that we get a competitor for GOG. It'll keep GOG on their toes... or so I hope. Right now GOG doesn't really seem to be responding to the competition, what with them only releasing one game per week (which is something they need to change soon).
But it could of course be that the reason for GOG's low amount of new releases is that they're preparing something behind the scenes. I mean, if we were to speculate wildly, it could be that they're finally going to start a section for consoles/other systems. And if they, for instance, were to launch SEGA's Mega Drive games here, it wouldn't make sense to launch them one by one when they're available on Steam and other channels already. So maybe they're silently adding a bunch of games so they have a selection ready once they launch the new service (on GOG's second aniversary, maybe? :-) ). Well, that's what I'm hoping anyway.
I just went on DotEmu site and it looks like there game on average are "older" than on GOG. They have no "recent" games at all, and a few "real real" old games. GOG though is catching in the "real old" category with KQ 1-3 and Roger Wilco's Quests :)
The only game they have GOG does not have and I want to have is Transartica (post apo with snow and huge trains)
Yet another new DotEmu-release:

The design of the website is somehow same style as here. They seem to have good language support and good Windows 7 support, but no word on DRM, even if it is free. And they have arbitrary price levels. Since competition is in general not bad and they have some games that aren't here... I think its DotEmu is a good thing. The market is probably big enough for two competitors. And also all the games which are new now will be classics somewhere in the future... so plenty of work to do.
