A friend of mine on another site is concerned about buying from GOG because he uses Macs only and doesn't know how to convert GOG games so their DOSBOX wrapper will play on a Mac. I have no idea what I just said there, so I patently can't help him - I don't have a Mac. I see Mac gamers on the forums, so I assume there's a way to do this? Is there a quick and simple solution?

Supposedly, Boxer can import GOG DOSBox profiles. It might be worth a look.

Also he needs a way to get the game files out of GOG's .exe installer. Best way unless he has a Windows Bootcamp partition or virtual OS is to simply download wineskin (it's free) and run GOG's .exe installer in a wineskin which gets you the game folder contents out of the .exe, which you then just drop into Boxer either using Boxer's install game program which will import GOG's settings or simply dropping the folder as is into Boxer's DOSGames folder if it is a simple game to get running (doesn't really need a special DOSBox config).

DOSBox and ScummVM are simple to get working - especially DOS games with Boxer - with the one caveat being that you have to get the game files out of GOG's windows-only installer which isn't too hard. And after that it's as simple as can be. :)
