Beer! Needs moar Guinness.
0.73 brings a vast number of improvements; not all of these area easily seen, but there are many tweaks to improve performance and compatibility (if you have games that didn't work correctly under 0.72, now would be the time to try some of them again). If you have been using CVS builds already you won't see as much of a difference, but it's still nice to have the final, official version of this branch.
GOG will presumably be updating their installers at some point in the near future; for those of you who want to take advantage of this right now all you need to do is install 0.73 somewhere and then copy dosbox.exe into each game's directory (replacing the bundled version). If you have pointed your games to a centralised DOSBox location just point the 0.73 installer there.

And that's exactly why that GOG installer option is cool to have and why you'd choose it in the first place, just in case anyone was wondering. I'd like to see the same thing done with the ScummVM games as well.
Thanks for the heads up, doctoren!

Great I can't wait to try it. :)
Just tried 0.73, I've noticed a decent improvement to Daggerfall's stuttering/low-fps on me. Does not take as long to load as well.
I don't have any other DOS games installed right now. But hey, when I can run along the countryside with a giant claymore, what more do you need?

I have been able to a noticeable speed boost in many games by setting cycles=max and core=dynamic. Of course it also helps if you have a fast CPU in the first place, especially with a demanding game like Daggerfall.
I can think of a ton of games I could test with this. I saw in the topic that the merging with Skynet and Future Shock now works, and I want to test it with Battlespire and Witchhaven 2. Probably more I can think of as I go along.

In earlier versions, I'm sure I tried core=dynamic to have it end up worse, or to see it not even boot. Toggeling it now, it makes a larger improvement again to mouse/view delay. much more smooth.
Thanks for the reminder, cheers!

Feel free to post your findings here.
It has been a while since we released a new version and it has so many new things and small fixes. So it is possible that something doesn't work anymore or just suddenly works much better.
For daggerfall I happy to inform you that you can now start it properly and don't need to use the fall.exe z.cfg trick anymore.

Ooh, didn't know about the Daggerfall bits. Will try.
I just installed but didn't really have any gog games with issues. Happy to see a new release, though

Can you tell us where the capture folder is? I can't seem to find it.
