orcishgamer: I'm pretty sure this BFG edition will cost no more than Doom 3 did within 6 months, all new buyers from there on out will be getting a better edition. It's not really that bad of a thing.
No one would bitch if it were objectively better, which it's not.

I thought the BFG came with the duct tape mod integrated...

Nope, it integrates it's own mechanic of half-life battery that dies after 10 seconds and needs to recharge. That's besides the point tho, you could install the ducktape mod for Doom 3, and well... Aside from those bitching, I find that most people I ask about it didn't really mind fleshlight mechanic of vanilla. What am I pissed off the most about here is that work of so many modders will just be eventually forgotten, even if those mods were great, and why? Because Bethseda ordered so.
I'm a bit confused by all the bitching, to be honest...

Those who already had D3+ROE on the account, retains them, with all the modding capabilities and such, so no harm done.

Those who didn't bother to buy the Doom titles by now (games that ranges from 20 to almost 10 years ago, and on Steam for at least 5 years, including heavy discounts) are suddenly so greatly interested in them that they want the old package back... really?!

Fenixp: ducktape mod for Doom 3
If it moves like a duck, quacks like a duck, tape it.

Bitching is about the fact that bethseda went out of their wey to pull all options of buying vanilla Doom 3 to force BFG edition. What harm would it do to them to bundle Doom 3 as an optional download when buying BFG, I mean seriously?

They could have simply left the games and pack there and they went out of their way to remove them. There was no reason for that other than force people to look at BFG edition.

Which seems to be failing http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

Say, I didn't happen to miss George being appointed CEO of Bethesda, did I?

Well, BFG edition was announced quite some time ago, maybe people waited for it and are disappointed now?

The problem (at least for me) was, that nobody really knew what it would look like until the release. And then it was to late. I never really bothered with Doom 3 since I played it back then and saw now reason to buy it on Steam. But all the talk about the BFG rekindled my interest.

But from what I've heard, I should have bought the id pack when it was on sale.
Yeah, I wrote a similar "not a big deal" post in the BFG thread. It's funny that NOW people want to buy the originals.

Still, as a big proponent of game preservation it's shady as shit to remove the original and different version.

I could be wrong, but I didn't think people were expecting for the original Doom 3 to be removed from sale or the other games as well.

I don't understand what you are trying to say.
