Note: This is the DLC from GOG for the GOG version!

Noticed I passed 500 rep, so I thought I could gift a little something (I could have done it without a reason, but meh :P).

So, anyone can enter, provided:
1) You own the game
2) No negative rep (unless somebody I know can vouch for you or something :D)
3) No entering for other people, one chance per person is simply more fair =)
4) This giveaway will end Saturday, 11PM Central European Time (GMT +1, if I'm not mistaken)

Now, I won't demand evidence that you own the game, although you can post a screenshot if you want to, but I'd like the person who wins the game to also redeem the code, so you'll need the game anyhow =)

Don't Starve sounds like a grueling death simulator (and in some ways it is) but the main strength it has it emphasizing world exploration and devising puzzles. It distills down some of the best elements of role playing games (open world, free reign), adventure games (environmental puzzles), and arcade action (monster fighting) into an accessible final product. You could jump into a game knowing very little and just toy around, see where things take you... until you die (no biggie); or you could set out to brave challenges relentlessly never to surrender until life is pryed away from you. Easy to access, difficult to master is the cliche that applies here. Also, Don't Starve encourages user modification so there is additional fan created material to alter the experience further to your taste, or apply different styles. I've been pleasently surprised by Don't Starve and am excited to see additional developer support with this DLC. Crafting is a popular feature in a lot of games; but Don't Starve takes the need to seek "recipies" and material to a new level. The highlight for me is the gentle implied storyline, Don't Starve makes you find the plot (which could change from game to game) and leaves subtle clues steeped in atmosphere - it compells you to check out what just behind those trees (if you can, before you die). A lot about the world is randomized so starting over doesn't feel stale.

To be honest, I have not started it yet - it's up there on the shelf with its worthy shelf-mates. That doesn't mean I won't play it, it just means there are too few hours in the day. Ah, life.

I have own and have played DS. I am hoping the DLC will increase my level of enjoyment from the game. I'm in.

Same situation as LinustheBold here. Damn, FTL (another rogue-like :D) is eating so much of my gaming time...

Umm, have you played (and enjoyed) rogue-likes before? To enjoy them, you need a particular frame of mind, meaning you don't care about dying repeatedly and having to start from scratch, because each attempt give you more experience about what works and what doesn't, improving your chances for the next time (or not... as luck is often almost as important as skill in these games). ;)

BTW, looks like the base game has got another update... again. :D

Hmm, I don't know if I ever tried out a rogue-like, at least I haven't played them in the modern era :D
I got FTL, haven't gotten to playing it yet, though.

And yeah, that's why I said it's not my cup of tea, probably. I play games more for the story (that's why I like RPGs), because I usually suck at everything else :P But I should try it out, to see if it's fun (..starting with FTL, probably)

I have the game and i am in thanks.

I have only played like 20 minutes so far, at first it seemed okay well this is easy but then quickly difficulty starts to kick in. I have to play it more but well life and responsibilities, though in don't starve it goes alot faster.

Despite both being roguelikes I would hesitate to compare FTL and Don't Starve. FTL has linear pathways and to me feels limited in set scenarios with many combat situations feeling similar in their turn based strategic nature; it can get repetitive especially playing for longer periods. Don't Starve has more traditional real time action elements blended in with free motion and open world and content feels more varied because the scenarios are more implied than text/narrative driven. FTL has a purposeful plot instilled to compell gameplay but Don't Starve has a vague plot secondary to play/exploration. I love FTL, but feel like it's the less accessible of the two.

That's an excellent choice but beware... if you like it, the chances of reducing your backlog will be severely decreased. :D

It's hard as nails (if you hope to beat it as a standard game instead of enjoying its gameplay, you'll be severely frustrated) but so addictive it's unbelievable. :)

(the fact you can play it in short sessions adds to that addictiveness) ;)

Nice, thanks and +1 for the giveaway! Don't Starve is an awesome game, and I'm not usually a fan of survival games OR rogue-likes (with a few exceptions.) It's addictive as hell, too. It's not a game I play to beat or power through, but one I pick up pretty often just to play for a short while, explore a little, maybe learn something new, wash/ rinse/ repeat. I can't say with any certainty that I'll ever tire of it.

That said, I'm not in, as I'm in no rush to pick up the DLC, and have been too fortunate of late. Good luck folks, and thanks, Reever.
