Facebook, Google... the devil vs. beelzebub, huh? No, thanks.
That's nothing new. Before Google, other search engines did the same with their competition.

keeveek: Of course it's not. For me, using worse search engines, worse, less detailed maps just because you don't like the company is strange. And nothing else.
I don't think it's simply a matter of dislike though. Perhaps he suspects them of potential wrong-doing. Possibly, he wishes to avoid their on-line method of storing documents for security reasons, preferring to be extra cautious. It could be a moral thing to him. I may not entirely agree, but I think he must have reasons for not using them, which seem worth the trade off.

I do have those reasons. I work in IT, I am keep an eye on Google's behaviour, and the "free" services are not the behaviour of a company that makes billions in profit.

Anyway, consipiracy theories and hatred aside. I find little drawback in using the other services. I mean, it's not like Bing maps leads me into a river, yahoo mail still delivers me my mail, and I still find what I need when searching Bing. It's really not a hard knock life on the anti google front.
Facebook almost has all of my personal information. The fuck if I'll let Google have it.

I say hold out until Google offers you more money than Facebook is offering us. Wait a second... If I wasn't getting something out of the FB service, I would feel cheated right now.
Google already has Orkut. Though it's pretty much a mess.

Actually, It has become a social network for brazillian lower classes. So I can understand why launching a new one.

Why would they pay anyone for using their services? I don't get you.

Just joking about how I'm giving FaceBook some of my personal data, and that Google will have to pay me money to sweeten the deal. They can't have my personal data for "free!" It's valuable stuff! You should hold out for cash too! ;-)

This is what you aren't getting. You are paying google for using their services. The currency is personal information. As these two have joked, you'd need a bit more tangible currency in order for them to pay google their personal information in return.
I'm excited! Google is the second-best Internet behemoth (the first best is Valve).

Too many people out there think that the internet works different than the real world and that so-called "free services" there are truly free.

Whatever you do in Internet, you leave traces with your personal info. It's unavoidable, and you have to be paranoic to make this as an argument against google only.

If you don't want to share your personal data in Internet, you have to stop using it at all.

Really think that Microsoft has better privacy policy than google?

Social media does pay. Maybe you just need to rethink your marketing strategies.
