If this happened to xbox360's MS would call it a feature. XD

Seriously though, how is this something Sony missed? It's not like they have thousands of different systems to test it on and this doesn't exactly seem like a problem tucked away in something nobody does that you'd easily miss.

It was pulled off immediately though so everyone can relax for now

It's funny how this shit happens on all consoles right now, remember when the Launch update for the WiiU bricked consoles?

Right now rule of thumb is: don't download console firmware updates on release day

It apparently happened to only the 1st SLIM models + more then 500gb memory units

seems it's something todo with "large" HDD's

Also Sony pulled the 4.45 update, According to the PlayStation Europe Twitter account, Sony is aware of the problem, and has taken 4.45 offline to investigate the issue.
