Illwinter Game Design has announced that they are developing Dominions 4. Not much in the way of official details, except what you can find on the Desura Dominions 3 forum, Dom3 Mods and a couple of other places (the thread at Quarter to Three is one to watch).

What I can and will say that Dominions 4 will be Dominions as you have never seen it before and I'm not talking about just the UI overhaul to match Conquest of Elysium 3. So, any interest here?

I know its ridiculous to ask it for such an hardcore title, but if the strategic map does look better this time, I'll surely be more intrested than I was for Dom3.

This game was mostly multiplayer, correct?

Sadly not really my thing with this kind of games. Think I also remembered it being prohibitively expensive, but that might've been quite a while ago.

I was aware of that but from what I remember people saying it got to be a pretty lackluster experience once you started to get a grip of how the game works.

Not true, the game is really good. Production values aren't high - although the music is excellent - but gameplay-wise it's great, I poured around 70 hours in it since I got it, more than any other game except for Eador and KoDP respectively.

The AI in this game sucks, which is why it relied so heavily on multiplayer. Not really interested in Dom4 unless they hire a do something about the AI.

The game will be released tomorrow. It has been available as a beta version for those who preordered for quite some time now.

While the AI may be no match for a human player, it is miles ahead of the Dominions 3 AI in terms of competence, so if you liked Dominions in general, the fourth installment is worth it just for that.
