I wish I had kept everything: My TI994a, my Apple II with duo-drive, my original Mac...

I feel nostalgic for the head seeking sounds of the old 5.25 ~20MB MFM hard drives that were common in XTs during the mid '80s. They sounded sort of like a squeegee going back and forth over a car windshield but inhumanly fast. Modern hard drives are thankfully much quieter but are at the same time kind of boring. :/

I do miss the sense of awe new video-games would give me when I was younger.

Graphics and gameplay haven't impressed me since Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Farcry first came out. :(

I don't miss dial up or having an awful PC, though. :P

I actually miss AOL ... It was a pretty cool site with their different sections (Games,Chat,News,Lifestyle ... etc). Especially miss the Multitude of Chat Rooms where you could find someone Somewhere to Chat with any time of day or night ... haven't found anywhere like it.

You know I once had the modem handshake as a ringtone for my brother. I started ducking his calls. I no longer have that ringtone, but I still seem to get annoyed every time he calls. I should have never used that ringtone.

So, no I do not miss the modem sound or old computers with the fragile floppy disks, constantly crashing OS, and games that you had to configure scripts just to work correctly.

The only thing I do miss about them was how reliable the hardware used to be. I had computers running for years and years on the same parts. Computers now a days seem to last a few years before something crashes and burns.

Fuck no.

I miss the old computers being generally easier to troubleshoot.

I avoided the 'dial-up to connect to internet' phase...But I sure did my part in listening computer sounds while uploading games on my C-64 using tape recorder. And no - I don't miss it :-P

While I am prone to nostalgia towards old computers and old computer tech, a dial up modem is not and will never be a part of that nostalgia.

May that time in internet speeds never come back.

EEEEEEEH HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE it's still Here today only it's called ADSL with 999,999,999 dropouts a day a shaky ass connection that you HAVE to have the phone off the hook to use and only double the speed of dial up FOR ME while My motherfucking mate four streets away get Motherfucking 12mbps or tier 1 NBN speeds Fuck me! and My internet gave me a fucking red light again which means optarse is arsing me around again which means turning the router off and back on again!
