51nikopol: I can't understand how they sell games in bundles for a minimum of $1.00. I just bought Black Mirror 2 & 3 and saw Ceville in another bundle for $1.00. No wonder people are buying these bundles.
I think it comes down to the bundles being for Charity, so they are counted as "loss" by the companies, or, the percentage they get is more than they would otherwise. The smaller indie ones will get more buzz about their games that way and may increase sales.
For instance, an indie company nobody knows makes a game selling for $5 and only gets $1000 on normal sales. They then bundle it with a group, and make 10 cents per bundle. This bundle sells to people who wouldn't buy their game otherwise. Let's say the bundle gets them 8000 sales. They just got an additional $800 of sales by being in the bundle.
A larger company (suchas THQ) probably does it more as publicity, or gets a larger cut of profit. If you looked at the THQ bundle, it was set up to give THQ something like 65% of profits.
Publicity/advertising gets a name out there. It makes people wanting to buy it. I wouldn't have played half of the indie bundle games I own if it weren't for being bundled with 1 I wanted.
.... Oh, your question was rhetorical... lol...
