I have so many great memories from the NES/SNES/N64 era, that I can't justify wanting Nintendo to die. I do, however, feel like they should stop coasting off that nostalgic good will, using it as an excuse to continue to make gimmicky games that feel like you have to be 8 or 9 to enjoy.

Sure, there were a few adult oriented games on the Wii, key word being "few," but not anything that made me excited enough to go out and buy a Wii. This is literally the first Nintendo console I've not purchased. I owned an NES, a SNES, a Gameboy, a GBC, a GBA, a DS, and the Gamecube, and enjoyed titles on all of them. Wii? No. Never saw a reason to own one, and the library simply wasn't enough to convince me otherwise.

IF Nintendo finally pulled their heads from the crevasse, I'd willingly support them with my entertainment budget again, if not, then I'll continue to think of them as that company that used to be awesome when I was a kid.

Yes, how dare they make *one* NSMB game per hardware? And don't get me started on those countless Zelda remakes, there is a total of zero of them. Total overflooding of the market! Now, *two* Mario Galaxy games no one wants to buy on the same console, that's just fine.

Do I want Nintendo to die? Absolutely not, I'm still of the opinion that they're capable of making great games. Do I want them to improve and learn from their mistakes? Yes, I would like to see that happen. It's quite evident that they're not that in touch with reality and their practices are very questionable to say the least. I just hope they actually turn things around after the Wii U, but I'm not sure if they can figure that out.

This I think is where you are missing the point - They are not marketing to you and you have grown out of and are no longer their target audience. Nintendo has always targeted Kids and Families, you make that point yourself. You loved them when you were a kid. This is still their focus today. If I am honest I will admit that I have had Nintendo in the house in all their incarnations over the last 30+ Years, primarily for the kids. I dabbled in FF..., played some Gameboy / DS Games but the main reason for having any Nintendo Game or Device has always and foremost been for the kids and being able to play with them. I still do not own any other console device other than Nintendo and my kids as they have grown older have each purchased their own XBOX / XBOX 360 - Playstation / 2/ 3. I do have a PSP for my own use. Take them and enjoy them for what they are and go play a PC or Playstation Game. Nintendo is not going to die and they are not going to change their target audience very much. They are and always will be Nintendo.

grviper: Sony? When was the last time you had to deal with European PSN? They screw up preorders on a monthly basis, a lot of content comes with regional sales restrictions, they managed to charge people for Deadly Premonition, then tell them that the game is delayed for a few days. If something is released in time there it's either miracle or an accident. And same bullshit excuses by the same jesters every week. Oh, and fuck them for SingStar in particular.
Yes, Sony. European PSN? Everytime I turn on my PS3. We live in the same country, aren't we?
Don't know anything about PSN pre-orders, because I dislike the idea to pay the full price upfront. All the the seldom occasions goes to Steam releases (e.g. Dishonored, Deus Ex 3, waiting Thief 4).
Deadly Premonition not that game type I would ever like to play in my life, just don't get the clunky controls and zombie-like creatures. Thank you, Silent Hill 2 was enough, and it's much more better game from my perspective.

Let me explain regarding Sony. It's not that they are so good, I just love Sony, that's it.
When I saw the PSN Store men for the first time I thought that some sadist-pervert who hates the whole world and kids designed it. It's that s@ck. A few years after, the menu is the same piece of sh!t.

But, the Sony is Japanese, I see them as the last stand against US companies (good for games variety). They really trying to get the players something good and solid (remember than PSN was free while XBOX360 asked for money to go multi), they are somewhat supportive towards indie developers. Lastly, they have decent hardware and always implement solutions from other departments.

And lastly, I was lucky enought, but nothing with Sony logo ever collapsed in my short life.

Ahhhh thaaaat thing? Yes, hate it! Thought something wrong with my PS3, then managed to get to disappear, afterwards it appeared again. Yes, this was a dumb move.

Note to self: If Nintendo inexplicably collapses, make and sell suicide pills to devastated fans via express airmail. Make them extra painful and protracted. Bask in wealth and barely legible letters of gratitude.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily agree with Metroid being a "kid" targeted product though. Most of their catalogue actual, I would agree with your assertion on.

Short answer, no. The more competition in the market the better. Say what you will about their gimmicks but they are at least trying to innovate and for that I applaud them.
