Manga version of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' a hit in Japan
To me, it seems like no harm done because it's really just a book you can find in most places (out of Germany, anyway) in drawing form for you know, the young people to read. I don't think this will teach Jew hating skills to the young anyway, but it does bring a question as to whether or not anime and manga gone too far? Well, maybe to Japanese readers it's not going too far, but to people who like to read this in other countries where, for example, Mein Kampf and most Hitler things are... touchy, to say the least, is it acceptable?
Just sayin'.
COOL!
I must read this! Thanks for heads up.
To answer: no I don't think it's tasteless. I mean, I'm a visual person being Deaf and all, and manga really do tackle good subjects sometimes. It makes it more REAL in many respects. And art is always to be admired.
*shrugs*
Hmm... I remember that Nazi uniforms are one of the most popular cosplay costume in Japan and Korea...

Yes, and Max Mosley is known to be a fan.
Heh if thats your definition of tasteless you should see some of the shit I've posted on the net over the last decade or so...

Could you not just read the book then? It just seems weird to make a comic out of it, isn't the book mostly "here's my opinion on this subject"?
It'd like trying to make a film of Beyond Good & Evil (the nietzsche book rather than the game although I SURE don't want that ruined by a film either, unless perhaps its CG, that might work), how do you represent nietzsche's remarkable arrogance and repeated assurances that he's the only person alive smart enough to have thought up the stuff he's writing about?
Oh great. A prolonged Ford-inspired rant, now with added kawaii. That's one for the Christmas list and no mistake.
That would be a fascinating thing to attempt, no?
I'm always interested in different perspectives.
Hmm, I don't really think that this is tasteless. Used correctly, this can be a good informal tool to understand why and how the Nazis came into power.
Does this exist in English, or will it be translated? I can definitely see myself getting it in that case.

You should mail a copy to the leaders of the BNP, no doubt.

Foreign imports damaging the job security of hard working British artists and writers? Oh sure, they'd love that!
Hmm, maybe I should send them a copy...

Then they'll start trashing the artists who penned it for being Asian. Really, this would be golden.

You've also got to appreciate the mixed messages that sending them such a 'gift' would cause.
And the fact that the Japanese were trashing their favourite bedtime reading would undoubtedly set them off.
This is becoming all the more tempting.

Does anyone have Nick Griffin's address? Or do postmen not go to his house anymore?
I'm a big fan of following politics in countries where I have some sort of link to, and British politics trumps Canadian politics in every category.
Anyway, back to Mein Kampf. Anyone read the actual book before? Were you arrested? Did any old women faint when they saw what you were reading?

Now THAT was tasteless.
