lol i dont even know what it is..it is just a number under the name it doesn't have the power to make you any good or worse..funny to see some people only focus on that rep thingy and think that they get better with higher reps

Exceptional efforts my arse. He scours the helppages as he has naff all to do, the moment someone posts a problem he's on google then posts and answer and "Poof" there's another +5 rep.

I hadn't even noticed Rep until now, so I guess that means I don't actually care about it ¬_¬ I only post here because this seems like a decent community, certainly a lot better than most other sites.

Based on the one of the comments in the thread codagh linked to, you get some points for being active, but most for answering questions.
I don't know about the prizes that people mentioned, but if the best solution finders (whether through google or not) get a big star next to their name and GOG gets their support burden lightened, that seems like a good outcome for everyone.

Any kind of popularity contest is just another way for people who pander to the little folks to get on top.

All of the people who cares about the reps, happy time with your reps. Rep is not important for me.
