Nobody wanted to hijack this thread, so I need to bump it myself :P

So... I have bought 3 first expansions for Carcassonne and Munchkin 2 and 3 expansions for Munchkin. Now I need to buy mayday sleevees for all that cards :D

My gf is unfortunatelly away, so I don't have a team to play with (playing with my brotha alone isn't fun :P)

Ah, you're one of those card sleeving types, eh? Never really saw the point of it myself. Well, that and I'm not patient. The idea of sitting there and sleeving hundreds of cards sounds like a pretty bad time. :)
Duel of Ages 2 is out. The original DOA is one of my favourite games ever - every time I've busted it out has been some of the most fun I've ever had boardgaming - but it's been out of print and incredibly expensive to buy for years. Not that DOA2 is cheap exactly, but for how much fun the original gave me I'm willing to invest.

If you've never heard of it, DOA is sort of like that flash video The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny grafted over a medium-weight wargame. You've basically got a giant stack of historical figures and thinly-disguised fictional characters (everyone from The Predator to Beowulf to Sir Robin The Not Quite So Brave) and an even-more-giant stack of items (maybe you get a laser-cannon, maybe you get a pointed stick) and you compete with the other team to complete various quests while taking opportunistic pot-shots at the other side. My favourite part is that it always generates stories - "Remember that time when the gritty cyberpunk street-samurai had to swallow his pride and ride a pegasus so that he could get close enough to Spartacus-on-a-dune-buggy to sic his pet velociraptor on him?". For me, moments like that are the best part of gaming.

While DOA2 is too expensive for me to recommend buying it sight-unseen, I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you get a chance.

Yeah, and only that. I don't buy special cases for miniatures, "protective foam", or other shit, but I am sleeving my cards :P I saw how Munchkin looks like after couple dozen of games, and I don't want that to happen :P

I definitely have my eye on this. I think I'll be downloading the rulebook to really get an idea for the game.

It might be hard to get the flavour of the game through the rulebook, since so much of what's great about it are those unscripted "moments" that emerge organically from the gameplay. I'm not saying don't read it, just keep in mind you probably aren't getting the "full picture".

Edit: A bit of exlpanation about the "Master Set" for anyone looking at this for the first time. The original DOA had about eight or nine expansions that added a ton of content. With DOA2, they've launched two separate items - the base set, and the "Master Set" which is basically a single mega-expansion to the base set. The Master Set does not include the base set. If you want to pick up the game but aren't 100% sure you'll like it, you may want to pick up just the base set (which is substantially cheaper) and then add the Master Set later if you get hooked.

Oh, absolutely. I've already watched and read a number of reviews to get an idea of what the game's about. Now I want to read through the rules and see how it specifically plays, and whether or not it's something that I'll find teachable or not.
I got a Risk 2210 board not too long ago and played a game with my buddy. I've only played classic Risk a few times before but I really liked the changes to the game the newer version had.We were supposed to declare a winner after 5 rounds (me) but we decided just to continue on and it made for an interesting game. I really like how the devastation markers change the landscape, it made Asia so much easier to hold.

Also thinking about getting another board game, looking at King of Tokyo based on a top 10 video I skimmed through but I've been wondering about a more involved wargame also.

More involving wargame? How about Memoir 44? It's about WW2 , allies vs germans, multiple scenarios, hex map, nice plastic units, deep but not overwhelming tactics

It's kinda pricey here, I don't know how in other countries.

it's 1vs1 , but I've seen some cases when people were playing 2vs2 on some bigger maps, or 3vs3 even.

http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/37911/memoir-44-operation-overlord this version, I think.

The original is 1vs1 only, but it's the best one, according to BoardGameGeek.

Quite the list, but where is "Go" and regular Blood Bowl (not the cardgame)? Also no game list perfect without Kimble, even if you dont actually want to play it unless youre dead drunk.

I have Go actually. Just forgot to add it in. That list was a bit out-dated though and I think I repeated a couple on accident.

Never played Blood Bowl though, but I want to.

Since I posted that list I've purchased Takenoko, The Resistence, Martian Dice, Roll the Bones, Bioshock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia, Onirim, the Zombie Dice expansion, the Caverns of Roxor expansion for Super Dungeon Explore, and we finally got our copy of Tanto Cuore: Romantic Vacation from Japanime Games Indiegogo campaign last year (a gift for my fiance, who loves the game).

Next up I'll have to score the new Doctor Who Risk coming out, even if I already own 2 themed Risk's already (it's Doctor Who, after all). Would also like to get A Touch of Evil, Cthulhu Gloom, and the Resident Evil Deck Building game for October, since dark themes go with the time of year.

Check out a game called Kemet. It's not really a big time wargame, but it is a terrific game with unique power-ups set in Ancient Egypt. And since you score points by attacking successfully and capturing things, turtling is completely out of the question. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/127023/kemet

Also, Manoeuvre is a simple war game with 8 different playable nations during the Napoleonic period. Each country gets a unique counter set and deck of cards, but the rules are simple enough that it's easy to pick up. At the same time, there are some nice tactical options to keep it interesting. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17396/manoeuvre
Occasionally, my brother, my dad, and I (sometimes my sister; my mom, hardly ever) will pull out a board game and play. We have Monopoly, Scrabble, Life, Clue, Risk 2210, and Tank Battle. We rarely play Monopoly, just because it takes so long. We play Life and Clue much more often, mostly because they don't take as long and if all of us want to play, those are the only two my sister really likes. My dad, my brother, and I have only played Risk 2210 once. It was really fun. We want to do it again, but finding the time is kind of hard. Tank Battle isn't really my thing, but my dad and brother love it.

If time is the only thing that takes you away from enjoying monopoly, you may consider trying

Monopoly Millionaire

version of the game. It's way faster. But it doesn't mean it's less fun, at least for me. It's also way better looking :P
