I just hope they revert it back to having the navigation bar back to fixed. I'm sure there was a "how-not-design-websites" book somewhere out there talking about elements which follow the user around not being a very intelligent thing to do.

Heh, forums are still by and large pretty awful compared to the bread-and-butter mainstream alternatives. Hopefully they'll get it sorted eventually but it is a secondary task.

Apart from the new Wishlist, I'm not sure why they bothered altering their site at all. It was as close to perfect as you can get. Go figure.

"Do you like the new Gog.com?"
No, not really. They've taken an already CSS heavy site and added in more annoyances.

As long as the games are stay relatively cheap, I'm cool adding some new with the old.
I don't see anything bad. Problem is, I also don't see anything that really needed all the hype. Yet again, it seems to me like the changes were quite oversold.

This site has been in existence for years now, and yet it still lacks absolutely bare bones basic forum features found anywhere else. The game shelf is still not exactly useful. The downloader is still very limited (either download every extra you own with it or use your browser). And for a site that talks about community as much as gog (and what the Hell does that even mean now? What is a gog?), there are absolutely zero worthwhile community features.

What is the point of wishlists that nobody else can see? What is the point of GOGmixes that can't really be viewed all that easily once they cease to be brand new? Why is it that it took them 2 years to give us PM's, and only delivered AFTER a forum user added that functionality? I see the gogwiki allows users to share shelves and wishlists, but the site doesn't? What's the deal with that?

Does the Support system work any better? I saw no mention at all of fixing and tightening that up, and yet it was very much broken previous to these changes. No acknowledgement that your request has been received and sometimes weeks to have issues dealt with doesn't work when you promise to be something more.

It's all very...meh. It certainly doesn't live up to the hype. Also, if you're going to poke fun at your competitors in your promos leading up to changes (which I saw nothing wrong with), maybe it would be a good idea to make sure everything works.

And I can't help but wonder about all of these people losing their minds over the 'HUGE' changes. If Steam had launched weeks of conjecture and 4 days of promos and then put out this level of change, those same people would have dropped the hammer on Valve. And yet it's cool when gog does the same thing? And the worst part of it is, the over promise/under deliver part isn't even disappointing anymore. It's expected.

Holy crud, they have a wishlist again! Right there next to the forums on Community!

Tormentfan: The catalogue now defaults to bestseller list... I'm not interested in what everyone else is buying, and trying to put some influence on us that way is just a dick move.
how is that a dick move? To me this sounds like a complaint that xXShaddowTXx commented on, complaining just to complain

Yup, I do.

Using peer pressure as a means of entisement, yeah that's a dick move.

If it wasn't their intention to some how hussle you along in to by what everyone else is buying, why not just leave the arrangement as it was, or at least put in way to save your preference? But it defaults, differently from the past. every single time and was designed to do so.

It was done on purpose, and in doing that they have caused a needless 'complication' to useability... an extra click and refresh wait.. not much, but utterly unnecessary.

Feel like it was a bit clumsier than the old version at the beginning, but now it is better. Organizing the shelf is much easier now. Also now when you reply a thread, you'll be directed back to the thread page. I kind of like the old news headlines.

I think you're reading way too much into this supposed peer pressure and hustling

Or maybe you're not paying attention?
I hope that the addition of newer games won´t mean less old games to the cathalog. I am used to see an average of six each month even though some of them are not good.

No.
No complaints at all, really. Which is impressive given the number I had about the site when it allegedly came out of beta (and effectively entered another).

Things do seem a little sluggish at the moment. But I'm putting that down to the higher than average traffic due to its inconsistency.

In your opinion, which is fine for you to have, but it doesn't change mine or my ability to have one either.
I don't like how much space the wishlist box takes up on the Community page. It's got a button to minimize it, but it doesn't stay minimized after a refresh. Honestly I'd much rather see the threads I'm watching than see what's hot on the wishlist this week. If it stayed minimized that'd be fine. And news posts don't show anymore unless you follow the link from the frontpage. Plus the top bar is awful, of course. Other than that everything seems fine.
