Do you buy games to trade, or sell, or give away? I see many people here giving away games, and not just for GOG. Do you buy promo and bundle games, thinking to do something with them with other people later?

I'm curious how many of the games that people here are giving or trading away were bought for just that purpose.
I buy 95% of games to giveaway from both here and other sources.
Usually no, but there have been exceptions. Most of the games I've given away have been from collections where I don't need/want some of the games included.
I buy lots of games to give away. Rarely as a forethought though, and usually when I see someone that seems to be in need of a game to cheer them up, or someone has said they've never played a particular game that I think is great, or just because someone has it on their wishlist. Sometimes I just randomly grab a game on sale and post the code for it as well.

I have to admit though, that the bulk of games I buy are for me to play.
I don't buy many games, and in fact most of my purchases are bundle purchases.

I've given away some games, or put them on Steam Gifts, but I still have some Steam keys I probably won't use. I'll eventually figure out what to do with them.
I don't really buy games at all now*, but when I'm in a better place financially I'll probably aim at buying things to give away to people first, I had a few random gifts from on here and from friends and it always makes me feel bad that I can't return the favour.

*Back when I could afford to buy things randomly (god it feels so long ago) I'd check the sales and buy games which I had no immediate interest in to play later on down the line - and I'd also check friends games lists/wanted lists to see if anything on sale was something they wanted. I don't think I've ever bought anything full price to give away though, it was more a random opportunistic thing for me.
Not usually, I guess some of it is about collection but I only ever buy games I want to play. Although there are things that come into deciding where I want to buy a game.

Rarely, I sometimes give away games on my birthday. :P

Or extra game keys I won't use, ever.
I buy games because I "think" I will play them...
Buy games for non-playing reasons? Yeah, it's called a backlog. I accept that some purchases might never be played.
Yes, I buy games for giveaways on my website.

I also buy games to support GOG. For instance, the Interplay sale running right now. I bought the first level of games, with no intention of probably ever playing any of the games as I'm not really interested in any of them. But.....like to support GOG so they have a successful sale.

The more successful GOG is, IMO, the more it benefits us, the gamers, and the more it benefits the DRM-free movement, so it's worth a few bucks for me now and again :)

Agreed.

I buy games on GOG/Steam/GG nearly every weekend, knowing that some day I will just have to retire and shack up for 5 years to finish all of my backlog.
I bought Humble Bundle games to donate to EFF or other charity. I think i haven't played 80% of Humble Bundle games. Last i remember I played the game where you can reverse your movement or something, which has cool music and graphics.

I probably haven't downloaded 50% of them.

Too busy with work and life.

I also bought both of the ebook bundle for charity reason (although I gave enough portion for developers/authors and the bundle people so they can keep operating).

I only play games that I bought from GOG. Except those that I read that sounded good, and have good review, but just not for me.

I downloaded the recent free Warsow. But just not my cup of tea. Going to uninstall it soon.
Sometimes I buy games as gifts for people, and sometimes I buy games as trade fodder.
Presently though I barely even buy games for me because I'm so danged broke. :(

And they say young people don't think about their future ;)
