I was just thinking of getting back to this game. I am a console player mostly so I have not upgraded my computer in years. But this game was my favorite online. But its no use if there are not players no more so are people still playing this game? :)
Is it still shiny? I wouldn't think so.

Ok.
The last time I played it was maybe about 4 years ago, and it was dying slowly. I remember maybe 3 32-player servers that usually had plenty of regular players. Maybe another 3 or 4 16-player servers.
I'd guess there would be around 200 players online at any given time.

That was 4 years ago... I would be very surprised if it was even 1/4th as popular now as in 2009.

Then again... I had electro-convulsive therapy around that time, so my memory might not be accurate.
Does anyone still play it OFFLINE ? The only CoD games I've played are the first one and CoD4 : Modern Warfare. Both are excellent games but I think I may even prefer the first one. Online multiplayer doesn't really appeal to me, especially co-op because I'm not very good at co-operating.

I own 1+United Offensive, 2, and 4. I give each one a playthrough about once a year. United Offensive is the best of the whole series, IMO. Both its single and multiplayer.
Considering people still play DOOM online I wouldn't see why not.

I never invested in a copy of United Offensive but I may do so if I can be sure it will run in Win 7 64 bit because I thoroughly enjoyed the first CoD. And this is coming from a PC gamer whose preferences are RPGs and strategy games rather than FPSs. If a game is well done then I'm interested in playing it. In fact CoD would be a welcome addition to GOG.
I really wish they go back to the good old ww2 theme... they were the only parts of this franchise i loved.
I wish I can play BF1942 multiplayer again, in our local servers which were shutdown many years back because the company shutdown. So much fun over 2 years and so many memories lol. I played COD 1 mp quite alot too.

Wish I could play Battlefield 1942, 2, and 2142 multiplayer, I never got a chance because I was too young and never owned a High end computer.

1942 is available for free on origin :

I had a go when it got re-released and there were quite a few people running around (as it was "new"), I assume there are still people playing it, and if not it "shouldn't" be too hard to get together some people to play it as it's free and runs on modern systems...

I got it already, but I am talking about playing the games when the multiplayer was still new and crowded.

Man what I give to go back in time to 2001 just to play the PC games of the era.
