I like to gift things at completely random times. Sort of like surprise sex.

HijacK: I didn't make any request though. I was just curious because very few, if any, of the users who request a gift in the GOG gifting thread actually edit their post and say whether they received the gift or changed their mind. I already got 2 gifts, so I won't be requesting another for a long time. Can't allow my backlog to grow again. I'm steadily making it smaller.
However, I still participate in giveaways. the chances of winning are very random mostly.

EDIT: And since few edit their posts, this can create confusion and a person can receive a gift multiple times, reducing the chances of others to receive a gift.

Sachys: I realise that, but you also said you were hesitant to post in the gifting thread. MY post wasnt an attack / being shitty. Just stating, that a thread like this will raise some eyebrows in the wrong way, but also, they do gift when they see / feel the need. :)
Oh. I understand. Well, it all comes down to how people interpret stuff. One may interpret me as greedy, other as intelligent for picking my time when to request, while another may think I'm just curious. It all comes down to what people want to believe. :D

HijacK: I ask this question because during every big sale the GOG community gifting thread is flooded, literally flooded with requests and none of them are edited as: "gift received, thank you X" or whatever. To be honest, It is more than understandable if gifters avoid that thread during sales.
I think there are a few things at play here:

1) It's likely that many people either don't say thanks at all or they do it in a PM to the gifter,
2) During the sales, there seems to be a rather significant increase in people asking for games (since they're on sale, I believe people think there's a higher chance of someone grabbing a game for them)
3) As noted, many of the gifters are likely side tracked in buying more gift codes and watching the sale page (I know this is the case for me)

I wish I could say I'm straight edge, but I have one addiction.
Adrenaline!
Well, video games and anime can be considered hobbies. :D

Yeah, but in the case for 1), if their request remains unedited, they may receive their request multiple times and that diminishes the chances of other people.

Absolutely, which would even more make it seem that the gifters aren't gifting.
