Detlik: Not as good, but still amazing game

Profanity: It's really hard to play it after having played God of War, too. The whole system just feels like a watered down GoW.
Which reminds me that I still have to pick up GoW 3 someday....finished just 1 and 2. But I just cant look at it same way you do. For me each of those games is unique and fun in their own way...btw did you try Kingdoms of Amalur?

Nope, I don't think I've even seen it being sold in a store. Haven't looked for it either, to be fair. I thought it was some kind of WoWish action RPG thing, that blew over real quick.

Its shame it has this rep, try to find demo somewhere or pirate it. Its actually pretty great (I loved it) RPG action game with combat that is very similar to DmC/GoW.

Oh, I'm not really a big fan of those kind of games. My favorite one is DMC, because of how straight up crazy it is. GoW and Darksiders are games I can appreciate, but they just weren't for me.

Unless Kingdoms of Amalur has a great story, I'll probably just skip it.

Well...no super amazing story that would change your life...but its not some average cliche either....you would have to try it yourself but I liked the story.
I wouldn't count put LoK and Darksiders on the same category as DMC, even though the combat style is similar. DMC is a combat oriented game, it's a game focused on killing things in a cool way and feel good about it. Darksiders and the first Soul Reaver focus on exploration, the rest of the LoK saga focuses on story.

Profanity: Seconding this. Though, it's not nearly as good as Devil May Cry.
Darksiders 2 is much better, actually :D

I didnt try it yet, even though I bought it in Christmas sale...didnt finish first one now that I think of it, but got really far
On PC the choice is slim. I liked Beowulf, but it and other before mentioned games are not techical slashers, just slashers. On consoles the closest rival is Ninja Gaiden.
Chaos Legion isn't really all that like DMC, though that's how Capcom tried to sell it back in the day. It's more like DW I guess? It's more about crowd control and holding off large numbers of enemies with your ai monster partner long enough to destroy the enemy generators spawning new ones.

Tantrix: How about DmC? I heard it's like DMC
Dohohohoho!!

I used to play it using the legions on passive mode, which leaves you free to hack & slash. You can still summon them briefly for an emergency, and the active ability of the bomb legion in passive mode (that's tricky) worked wonders for crowd control. It does it's part as an uberguy slaughtering monsters. All in all, I found the combat mechanics quite enjoyable.

I liked that, unlike many of the other games mentioned here (such as DMC) you can't replay levels over and over to farm XP during the campaingn. Not until you get pretty far on the story at least. Plus, if you dig into the formula, you can spend hours upon hours leveling up legions once the replay is active.
