Outlast: Whistleblower DLC, an expansion to the original tale of horror that expands upon the beginning and stretches beyond the first game, is now available on GOG.com for just $8.99. The original game Outlast" is required to play and is now available for $6.79 (a 66% discount) until 10:59 AM GMT on 11 May 2014.

In Outlast we learned that the remote, snow-capped mountains of Colorado are more than just a tourist attraction for skiers. Terrible secrets lurk in a long-abandoned home for the mentally ill. The Murkoff Corporation, operating under the guise of "research and charity", has been carrying out top secret experiments in the asylum so horrifying that even H.P. Lovecraft's hair would go white with shock.

Outlast: Whistleblower DLC is an expansion to a first-person perspective horror game Outlast, where you play as Waylon Park, the software engineer that emailed journalists around the world about the Mount Massive Asylum. Because you aren't a fighter, you'll need to run or hide from the deranged patients and even madder scientists. Use your skills in both parkour and stealth to survive the horror that is terrifyingly real as Outlast is inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity.

You can't hide forever from the horror within the Mount Massive Asylum. Run, don't walk, and pick up Outlast: Whistleblower DLC for only $8.99--DRM Free--on GOG.com!

justanoldgamer: I got Outlast for $2 during a promo (Luck of the Irish?) but haven't played it yet. I might get the DLC without having played the game if there's a promo I can't refuse.

Beside, with my anxiety issues I don't know why I bother buying horror games that I'm too afraid to play.
I feel like I am obligated to tell you to just mentally prepare yourself before playing it in this case, it's such a great game but I literally almost passed out while playing the first 30 minutes. Then Gdoc made a joke about it in the news post.
What a day that was.

Thanks for the warning. Now I really want to install it and play it for some perverse reason that only my subconscious know. My subconscious is an asshole.

Quick question, since I don't recall you introducing yourself to the forum. Which one are you in the instagram photos? Glasses or no glasses?

Very good question.
This is an awesome DLC! I had much fun playing it today! :-)

RadonGOG: This isn´t DarkSouls...
BTW: We still don´t have DarkSouls here. That has to be changed! http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/dark_souls_prepare_to_die_1
*signed* Would be excellent if we could get even a single one of the Souls games on here. I'm still hoping From Soft will consider an overhauled PC version of the original Demon's Souls. To me GOG is all about extraordinary games and ( modern ) Classics, so the Souls series would fit right in. Besides, would be great to see some more support from Asian developers/publishers, in general.

Anyhow, as for Outlast, I still haven't finished the main game and have yet to make up my mind about how much I like it... ( Ever since I started playing Dark Souls 2, any other games games I own entirely disappeared off my radar, so to speak. Heh. ) I guess I liked it well enough that I'd buy the expansion as soon as it's on some promo discount.

I'm the least manly of the two in the latest instagram post. You be the judge.

Beards are (by definition) manly. If you don't believe me, ask any of your co-workers, like TET or G-Doc. So I think that's settled ;)

Good choice. Even though you will be scared, its on such a level that you will also really appreciate how well it's been done. Just maybe keep the volume at like 10%.
How is this game ment to be played? I mean the DLC adds something upon the beginning of the original game and stretches beyond the original game. So should I play the DLC first to see what happened before the main game to some point, continue with the original game and finish the rest of the DLC after that? Or will the DLC be integrated in the original game so that you play through the whole story in the right order by simply starting Whistleblower?

No, play the base game first. The dlc immediately spoils the ending of the base game, and while the ending to Outlast wasn't good, it would still imo ruin the experience.

It took me slightly more than 2 hours, but I never got stuck. I agree that it's good, though. :)

2 hours.... that was fast :) I didn't want to make a speedrun. I prefer slower speed for this kind of games.
Just finished the DLC. Took me about 2,5 hours (and I wasn't speedrunning either). Is the DLC worth 9 bucks? If you're a die-hard Outlast fan... maybe. Otherwise just stick to the base game for now and wait for a discount.
