Outlast: Whistleblower DLC, an expansion to the original tale of horror that expands upon the beginning and stretches beyond the first game, is now available on GOG.com for just $8.99. The original game Outlast" is required to play and is now available for $6.79 (a 66% discount) until 10:59 AM GMT on 11 May 2014.

In Outlast we learned that the remote, snow-capped mountains of Colorado are more than just a tourist attraction for skiers. Terrible secrets lurk in a long-abandoned home for the mentally ill. The Murkoff Corporation, operating under the guise of "research and charity", has been carrying out top secret experiments in the asylum so horrifying that even H.P. Lovecraft's hair would go white with shock.

Outlast: Whistleblower DLC is an expansion to a first-person perspective horror game Outlast, where you play as Waylon Park, the software engineer that emailed journalists around the world about the Mount Massive Asylum. Because you aren't a fighter, you'll need to run or hide from the deranged patients and even madder scientists. Use your skills in both parkour and stealth to survive the horror that is terrifyingly real as Outlast is inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity.

You can't hide forever from the horror within the Mount Massive Asylum. Run, don't walk, and pick up Outlast: Whistleblower DLC for only $8.99--DRM Free--on GOG.com!

Soccorro: I don't play pornographic games. but thank you.

JudasIscariot: It's pornographic? News to me, I must've been playing a different game as the version I played was far from that :)
I play Mount and Blade WFAS. Where Polish Hussars are invincible and the enemy is nice enough to place ladders at their own walls helping you storm their castle.

RadonGOG: Well, there was a certain chaos witch that was very... and so on...
And remember: Witcher was also called a pornographic game, so I´d say...

And no, I would even buy it here without that multiplayer mode, even if it´s removed as good as those console -origins... *weired*
DSfix does alleviate some of those console-ish problems :)

The chaos witch was half XBOX huge spider, half woman. I mean, OK, someone may like that kinda thing but still! :P
ZMOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!! More outlast is always good. :)

fronzelneekburm: YES!!!! YEEEEEES!!!

monkeydelarge: The game is that good?
If survival horror with a good slice of depravity is up your alley, I'd definitely recommend it.

JudasIscariot: Wow, someone's excited :)
I was afraid the DRM-free version might get the usual month-or-so delay. Not only did this get a Day 1 gog-release, but the other stores apparently don't even sell it yet (at least I don't see a product page for it on Steam or the dev's website). If that isn't reason enough to celebrate...

Oh, I see :) Well, in any case, it's nice to see someone get all excited about a release :)
Despite being able to load pages and videos no problem, I apparently can't load that little bit with the "add to cart" button. Guess I'll have to wait. :/

My internet is trippier than a college kid on acid right now, I swear.

Is it less scary than Amnesia or more scary than Amnesia?

Definitely more graphic than Amnesia

nothing beats the "invisible monster in the water" part in amnesia. I'm always like "RUUUN!!! RUUUN!!! THIS IS ABOUT SURVIVAL OR DEATH YOU IDIOT!!! RUN FASTER!!!! O-PEN THAT DOOOR! Ohmygoditsrightbehindmemommy...
I got Outlast for $2 during a promo (Luck of the Irish?) but haven't played it yet. I might get the DLC without having played the game if there's a promo I can't refuse.

Beside, with my anxiety issues I don't know why I bother buying horror games that I'm too afraid to play.

What theslitherydeee said. I'll have to disagree with Soccorro's assessment, that nothing beats the invisible monster from Amnesia. Once you've been chased through an asylum by a duo of meat cleaver-wielding naked guys, invisible monsters can't faze you anymore. Personally, I found Outlast scarier.

If you want some more in-depth advice, I wrote a bunch of stuff when Outlast was an indie promo a few months ago. Definitely worth the 6 bucks. As for the DLC, I'll report back when I'm done with it.
