book99: I do like to buy DLC for games but honestly its getting to be overwhelming for me. For example Crusader Kings II. There is so much DLC for it now that I've decided I don't want any of it. And it kind of blows that you need to run 5-7 installers now days just to install the game and get the full experience. I guess that's why in some cases I'd prefer the game on Steam since it keeps everything together and downloads automatically. The other option is wait for the inevitable "complete collection." What are your thoughts?
1. Everyone needs to start carrying the DLC NOT JUST Steam.

2. Steam and everyone supporting DLC need to better orgnaize the DLC to separate the DLC containing new content from the DLC which only unlocks content - The latter only ruins the game quite frankly - That kind of DLC might as just clock the game for you too.

3. Steam (and others) need to make and easy and comprehensible list that shows what DLC we already have and what is available that we don't have. Trying to keep up with Dungeon Defenders and Magicka has been nasty.

That's easy to do.

1: Add all DLC to cart
2: Check out
3: Marvel as the site tells you you have dupes, remove stuff as needed.

orcishgamer: Because this http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/marketplace-and-purchasing/download-content is hard? Or the web app they had on their main page that they used to use (seriously, it had the name of every piece of content and the id of every box you'd ever logged into, you just toggled some switches or hit "transfer all" and done).
Long ago, you had to do that by phone, then that web page appeared and the operation was easy. The problem is you could do that operation ONLY 1 TIME IN A YEAR.

My first console died and I was delivered a new one, using that page I transfered all my DLC and XBLA games to the new one... then the new console died 6 months later, and I had to wait 6 months to be able to use that process again with the new (third) console... That page showed a reversing counter and a date for the next time you would be able to transfer again... Yes, DRM in all its glory!

By that time, there was no proper Xbox LIVE support in South America, they only switch consoles for new ones... My e-mails were never answered, and by phone no one could help me, only "please, wait in-line" and "we're sorry", if you were lucky. Yeah, M$...

By the way, this was in 2008.

DLC is a major contributing factor to why I tend to wait for a GOTY edition to be released (and heavily discounted) before I buy a game. I want a game to be as complete as possible before I sink 40+ hours into it, and trying to get back into a game after months away from it just to play through a few hours of DLC content is not particularly enjoyable for me. Proper expansions (things that add 20+ hours worth of content) are fine with me, but when it comes to standard DLC all it does is prompt me to wait on buying anything until the developer is pretty much finished developing for the game. Thus by trying to get more money out of me developers only end up getting much, much less money from me.
