Rohan15: Supposedly it is the free content made for the Spring game engine.
I think you misread that, I think they're just listing the Spring engine as an example of one for which user created content was made.

No, I read it :P It is referring to user made content as DLC rather than mods. Plus, it's a precursor page. >_>
The whole DLC thing is a way for developers (and publishers) to keep players in their game, and i can't blame them. I am very much a single-player person, and if DLC's are keeping them from adding a sloppy multiplayer, or adding multiplayer where it makes no sense to have one (Bioshock 2?): i am happy with it. Not that i'm against multiplayer, but in some games it's obvious it was a last add-on for exactly this reason.

DieRuhe: For me, anything other than a real expansion is too much - something that adds new content, expands areas/storylines, etc. I don't go in for the "spend ten bucks and get this pet" kinda thing.

MarioFanaticXV: This is really all that needs to be said. Full expansions are the only fair way to go. http://i.imgur.com/0yIgx.jpg
nice!

F4LL0UT: Thought I was the only one who remembers that one. Was the first time I heard about DLC. Still wondering if it's the first DLC in history.
I remember it, and I never saw anything wrong whatsoever with it. It doesn't expand the game, doesn't fill in the story, has no significance at all, so I see no reason to care about it. The only reason I have the thing is because it was included on the Knights of the Nine disc.

Stuff I dislike are content that's included in the base install disc but needs extra payment to activate, and things like the the Dragon Age: Origins camp quest giver, that directly references and gives pointers to content that isn't present. Give me lore and history about a forgotten hold, awesome, I really enjoy reading lore and history about the fantasy worlds I travel in, but don't f**king say you have a quest for me and then refuse to give it to me unless I install an add-on*.

*Note, this applies to non-game products as well. iOS 6, for example, has Twitter and Facebook entries in its settings, but when going there the only thing present is an install button (unless, of course, the applications are installed). I do get that this is a way of informing the user that the system has some kind of integration with said services, but as someone who has no interest whatsoever of the services, I just find the settings pages extraneous and annoying - show them IF I have the applications installed, otherwise don't.

Ive found only Fallout's dlc to be worth it so far, they're basically mini expansions

book99: I do like to buy DLC for games but honestly its getting to be overwhelming for me. For example Crusader Kings II. There is so much DLC for it now that I've decided I don't want any of it. And it kind of blows that you need to run 5-7 installers now days just to install the game and get the full experience. I guess that's why in some cases I'd prefer the game on Steam since it keeps everything together and downloads automatically. The other option is wait for the inevitable "complete collection." What are your thoughts?
Tons of DLC for a game is why I wait for Ultimate Ed's; or major price-drops in base game + DLC's.

That's what happens when you're not careful with spell check. It was supposed to be whore's armor. But they accidentally a typo.

They can be a bit hit or miss, but even the misses are usually well worth the money. IMHO Dead Money is just about the pinnacle of DLC goodness.

Elenarie: DLCs in general are great. It allows developers to keep a small but steady income coming in with not much of work done, while working on the next big thing.
No. They allow pubilshers (Capcom) to nickel and dime their customers. It's a shame that most developers take all the heat, while the publishers scoop up the money with golden shovels.

Because DLC hasn't changed at all since fucking 2006...?

Seriously, anyone talking about "horse armor" as representative of DLC in 2012 is not having the same conversation about the same thing.

Foxhack: You mean they keep stuff from the full game on purpose so they can nickel and dime you.
Because this is how it always plays out... amirite?

Azrael360: I used to buy DLC (for my Xbox 360) long ago. None of them were worth it, and I had some serious problems due to its DRM and my consoles (I had two consoles with "The Ring Of Death"). Then I discovered GOG.com and the Indie bundles. Now my money is better spent ;)
Because this http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/marketplace-and-purchasing/download-content is hard?

Or the web app they had on their main page that they used to use (seriously, it had the name of every piece of content and the id of every box you'd ever logged into, you just toggled some switches or hit "transfer all" and done).

It used to be a complete pain in the ass.

-_- Orc, it was sarcasm. I have tons of DLC, I was just poking fun at the Horse Armor...

I did it long ago too and it was still easy. I mean, signing up for Facebook was literally harder than that webpage.

How about you come down to Texas? We can then go to Mexico where I can legally drink!
DLC is slowly becoming a misnomer because most people buy their games digitally.

F1ach: Borderlands DLC...can never have enough of that shooty shooty goodness! :)
Agreed. The game was very modular anyway and thus was suited to extra bits being stuck on. Unlike most other games where DLC becomes an immersion killer.

EDIT: Double post
