First Day DLCs are usually the stuff that would be just cut off from the game in the 90s or 00s.

I try to buy all Paradox games DLCs, but usually for discounted prices. I love their games very much, but I don't have that big amounts of money. But still I want to support P-dox as much as I can, so this additional 0.50 EUR for some songs or texture packs... why not?

Also, for example, in Crusader Kings 2, the "Sword of Islam" DLC is required to buy only if you want to play as a muslim. All functionality from that DLC is included in the patch, so if you don't want to play as a muslim, you don't need to buy it, and you still get the gameplay improvements.

Like every other piece of content ever they vary in quality and value. Buy the ones you want, ignore the rest.

I used to buy DLC (for my Xbox 360) long ago. None of them were worth it, and I had some serious problems due to its DRM and my consoles (I had two consoles with "The Ring Of Death").

Then I discovered GOG.com and the Indie bundles. Now my money is better spent ;)

There's good DLC and bad DLC. The former is worth your money, the latter isn't. Who knew? Just read up before purchasing. Same like with any game purchase, really.

Though I will admit I am frankly annoyed by the DLC situation for Mass Effect 2. It's like they went out of their way to make the experience as convoluted and annoying as possible. I'd like to play the game, but I'm instead waiting for a sale on those stupid points of theirs.

This. It's why I'm not totally against it. I don't mind buying some because I know it's supporting the game I am playing. It does get a bit much when looking at a game you want to buy and there are 10 packs to buy. Granted, you buy the game and if it isn't your thing you don't buy the DLC.

As long as gamers have more money than sense there will never be too much DLC.

I am happy with the other option, that is the inevitable "complete collection".

Thought I was the only one who remembers that one. Was the first time I heard about DLC. Still wondering if it's the first DLC in history.
