Played DKS from start to finish, I'd say one of the better rpgs to be released recently, Has some dark humor in and what has been mentioned before not at serious as some of the others one the market. Combats pretty good and there is plenty of variety across the paths to take, The leveling seems pretty well done aswell you'll get slaughtered if you venture into the wrong place to early.

Tons of sidequests and a decent main story I'd say a very worthy purchase

That was always the deal. The standalone Dragon Knight Saga compilation had improvements to the original campaign content that the Flames of Vengeance expansion lacked; this patch upgrades Flames of Vengeance owners to the full Dragon Knight Saga experience. There will never be a patch for vanilla Ego Draconis owners.

It's totally not. In a game where XP is limited, and therefore golden, you only want to mindread a few. Look up the responses for fun maybe, but there are very few useful mindreads.

Okay, fair enough. So does the expansion work with the DVD version of Ego Draconis or am I still faced with getting DKS?

If you have both installed, then the patch will turn it into DKS.

That's not really what I'm asking. Can I install the digital distribution (say, Gamersgate) expansion on top of the DVD version? Only I'd need to be able to do that first before the patch has any relevance, you see. In my experience digital expansions categorically do not work with retail versions.

Well, my (limited) understanding was that FoV was only available through larians "The vault" download thing. So I think if you acquire it through there then you are able to install the patch. If there are other sources now, then I assume that their install process would mirror what the official install did.

I don't think it will matter much though. Judging from what Lar has said on his forums, this patch basically blows away the existing game, and gives you a new one.

So I think FoV should install onto ED fine. Then the patch won't care. If you're really worried, ask on the Larian forums, they're pretty quick to respond.

I have the DVD version of Ego Draconis and got Flames of Vengeance off of Gamersgate... works fine. Has activation DRM but they have promised on their forum to remove it someday.

Can you fully install DKS before it needs to validate?
If yes then can you install the patch from larian to remove the DRM so you'll never need to be online to use EG in future machines...

IF its yes then these boys have my money and its looking like im going to gamers Gate it besides Amazon digital Download... i dont know enough about amazon's utility to know if i can archive the installer files or not.. i know i can with GG..

I don't know about DKS but Flames of Vengeance activates after installing, yes. Ego Draconis (on disc) is just a disc check.

Edit: Also I would assume pre-installation DRM is still removable via patch if they release a new installer for the game with the patch.
