Anyone has this problem? I'm using Windows 7 and the Disk Cleanup utility always seem to get stuck for a dozen or more minutes at "Scanning: system error memory dump files". Its freaking annoying.

I stopped using the Windows disk cleanup when it deleted my system restore points (my bad, did not RTFS). I use (I prefer the slim build at bottom of page) and [url=http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25]ATF-Cleaner.exe now. Same with Windows Defrag . . . takes FOREVER .. I found Auslogics free defrag works great and fast.

BTW, if you use Auslogics Defrag on Vista or Win 7, DO NOT use the Optimize function as it will cause system files to be moved which requires Windows to "repair" itself but the defrag (default setting) works great, Optimize on XP works fine.

Edit: Ninja'd by Rohan15, I AM getting old . . . =)

Oooo! Good tips! Thanks, fellas!
Sometimes on Windows it's worth just paying for tools. Often they are that much better (in theory you paid for the Windows utilities, but they are crap).

I don't know what I'd do without Slysoft's stuff on Windows.

Thanks for all the tips... :) Already using CCleaner for registry cleaning.

Just wanted to fix this bug with the build-in Disk Cleaner, that's why I posted if anyone has a solution for it. :)

Just ran it and is stopped for maybe 1 to 1 1/2 minutes on my system at the same place. Maybe do an error check on the drive with check disk???

Will try that and report if any problems are found. Though I doubt it, since it was fine yesterday, but today after installing all the optional languages and xp mode, this problem appeared.

Have XP mode on mine but not ALL the language packs . . . =) . . could uninstall just the languages and see if that was the problem if disk check finds nothing . . . =)
