Bethesda have announced a new game, called Dishonored, developed by Arkane Studios:

Sounds like a cross between Deus Ex and Thief - which is a good thing as they were two of the great PC games of around 98-2000. No coincidence since Harvey Smith (who worked on Deus Ex) is co-creative director along with Raphael Colantinio (who worked on Arx Fatalis, available here on GOG). I have a personal interest as two Thief "Fan Mission" creators have been employed to work on the game. I'll be following this one closely.

If they pull that off, then it'll be one of the greatest FPS games of the decade :D I have high hopes for the level design, both Digi and Purah are among the best of the mappers in the Thief community.

They should set their sights even higher. They should add Bioware-style character interaction, digging and construction a la Minecraft, strategic combat like HOMM or Starcraft, vehicle driving, a portal gun, and Europa Universalis kingdom politics underneath it all. Why settle for anything less?
