Well it's a combination of good concept, good development team and good publisher (as in they're all for epic titles and giving them the time they need).

dawvee: What about a game with the combat system of Thief,
Hey, what other series lets you parry a sword with a blackjack?
Might be a good time to necro this one, since now since -

(a) there seem to be some interest in steampunk again
(b) no one have given link to official website: http://www.dishonored.com/ (with trailer)
(c) they are unveiling the first game-play video later now at the pre-E3 conference.

How about the voice acting from Deus Ex with the cutscenes from, say, Painkiller?
Will this be strictly from first-person perspective?

As long as they don't drag in all the Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallout 3 voice people again!

The videos for it look great. Very steam-punk/Victorian as well.

So far the only thing I don't like is the first person...
Someone mentioned my name?
Is it the art style, or do the preview screenshots genuinely look like shit?

Dishonored will be a game with a high player implication potential, and 1st person view is the best (cf Thief). Besides, it should include races from roof to roof like Mirror's Edge.

The game looks pretty promising (like Prey 2 used to). I can only blame the personalities of the character (in the introductory video) and some movements (at one point we see the guy performing a 180° rotation while in the air....)

If, and that is a big IF actually, I decide to give this game a try in the future, I will definitely:

(1). need to upgrade my (read: buy a new) gaming laptop/notebook

(2). hope this is not some Steam-exclusive title or is with some other form of DRM, especially one that requires gamers to stay online

(3). have to try first to see whether it will give me simulator/motion sickness or not ---> says someone who played Thief: Deadly Shadows and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines strictly with third-person view
Finally some gameplay footage. The combat reminded me of Dark Messiah's, and that's always a good thing.

I loved Arkane's other two games, and of course Deus Ex, so I've had my eye on this since it was first mentioned. Now I'm just trying not to get my hopes up too high.
