Hmm had some luck with the deals this time on steam, been a year or two though. I think 4 years ago I bought more then 20 games I wanted and didn't pay 100 euros. Last few years only one or two. This year i am around 5 I think.

Sadly the gog sales (or the gamersgate sales) are not giving me what I like... so yeah it's different for everyone.
Old story - your first few Steam sales are great - then you own everything... there's less to buy...
But yeah - no publisher packs, discounts aren't as steep as they have been in the past...

Still spent FAR too much on Steam / GOG / GMG though ><
I also find the sale to be underwhelming but I've sat through the past 3 or 4 sales on Steam so there isn't a lot I'm looking for. That said, some of the games that have had a 75% discount are now at 66 or 50 for some reason. The actual games on the front page are always the popular titles like Civ 5, Hitman Absolution, Portal, Deus Ex and Skyrim, but I'd rather see titles like Aarklash: Legacy, Vampire Masquerade, point-and-click adventure games and some of the older classics.
I don't pick much up during the GOG sales either as there are only a few different games I want, and the higher discounts only apply to buying all the games in a group or pack unfortunately.
I haven't bought anything in this Steam sales yet. If Skyrim Legendary Edition goes under 5€, or all the missing Risen 2 DLCs for an euro or two, yeah I guess I'll get them. I wish though I could sell/gift my Steam STALKER games away, and wait for the GOG release.

I've been using surprisingly much on GOG games now though. I thought I already have pretty much everything I'm interested here, but there seems to be quite a few interesting looking newer GOG releases that for some reason went under my radar. But that "Race the Sun" was not my cup of tea, though... It looked more interesting in screenshots that what it really was.

Honestly I think most people just own what they really want already.

Also there does seem to be trend away from some ridiculously low prices we saw in the past for top-shelf games. $10 seems like the low end now for bigger games, and that's probably a good thing really.
Not really sure why people are surprised. that leaked email did mention the autumn and winter sale being linked together so prices discount would be roughly the same albeit with larger pool of games.

Also as in past years games will start to repeat on flash community dailies .

steams discounts haven't been as good as previous years.too many games around 33 to 66 % off mark (especially indies)

having said that amazon has been slightly better (discount wise) but titles on sale seemed to be more limited this time around

I consider that a god damn blessing nowadays.
It's curious, I think this is the first steam sale that did not end up with a dedicated thread for it on this very forums or did I simply missed it?
Discounts might not be as juicy over the holidays as in years past due to a down economy. That being said I have a lot of games on GOG anyway and am running out of games I'd be highly interested in. GOG has awesome sales year round if one is patient in any case.

On steam I just picked up some DLC for Borderlands 2. I was thinking about maybe getting Saints Row 4 but eh.

Punished_Snake: So, I have 31 games on my wishlist, some are old releases, some new (and I don't expect huge discounts on them), but...they ALWAYS put the same games into daily deals!

Some game are bth on flash sales and daily deals, and you can find always the same games discounted!

Don't Starve, Skyrim, Hotline Miami, Gone Home.... I want a 75% discount on Rayman Origins, I'm waiting for it from the last X-Mas, but it NEVER comes!

Same for a 75% discount on The 7th Guest and its sequel.
I agree. I was expecting something impressive this year and all I saw was the same games on sale, over and over again(no doubt games people aren't buying). Many of them overpriced to begin with so 50% off an overpriced game isn't much of a deal.

Exactly: 50% off for call of duty games is still way off. Shame though: I am only interested to play the SP and probably only once so yeah i can't really go over 10€ for blops 2....and that's never gonna happen because ..you know... activision and COD.
I picked up Terraria and Fable 1 during the sale. I really haven't seen anything else I want to buy, which is odd.
Bought Craft the World, Display Fusion, Rise of Venice, Don't Starve and Anno 2070 Complete editon so far. Sadly few hits on my actual wishlist but then again most games are either relatively new, Early Access or games that haven't had a decent sale in years (Ubisoft ...).

Still hoping for a 50% Spacebase DF-9 and a good sale on Settlers 7 Gold and Brother in Arms Pack. Not to mention 50% Long Live the Queen which didn't get voted >.< (though I Imagine most votes will get a spotlight eventually)

Perhaps Realms of Arkania Revised

Again GTA IV, Spelunky, Alan Wake...what a waste of time.
