Luisfius: That may be, but the first Mortal Kombat movie got the tone of the game perfectly, I feel. I still count the Mortal Kombat movie as the best vifeogame to movie adaptation.
Mortal Kombat was not only an awesome movie (with a lot of camp, of course) but had an awesome soundtrack.

Cormoran: I have to admit that Boll did make the best videogame movie ever.

Postal was exactly what the people at Running With Scissors wanted. Everything and everyone else tries the 'Hollywood knows best' approach and end up with movies that only bear a passing resemblance to the games they're based on.

Also, Tron. Movie might have been before the arcade game though. Original, not new one.
I liked that one, I also liked Postal 2, I know some people around here disagree, but it actually worked surprisingly well.

I'm still waiting for Zork: The Motion Picture.

If you're saying, "who da fuck?" He's the director of Source Code and The Moon. Now you're saying, "Those are good flicks!" I totally agree but...

He seems to make very cerebral, character driven flicks that don't appeal to a wide audience. Isn't that exactly the opposite of what they need in the director of a WOW Movie/ I mean supposing they don't want it to be a totally ham-fisted flop.

They've still got mountains of cash to keep the shambling corpse going, but yeah, Blizzard may have to reign it in and rediscover what the word "humble" means. How did D3 do, anyway? Obviously it sold like hotcakes, but I'm wondering if anyone's playing it still in the originally expected numbers. With so many ARPGs showing up with amazingly high quality around the same time I can't help but think at least some of wind went out of their sales. They couldn't do the WOW thing, "tough shit, suck it up", because unlike WOW there are legitimate alternatives to D3.

Yeah well, I never said that there aren't enough fanbois to keep things going for a while. I just can't imagine things turning around until they are forced to face up to their mistakes.

Did the D3 free edition come out yet? I've been meaning to see what the game is like, but I absolutely refuse to give Blizzard any money until the release something good. I think the last game like that was WC3.

I'm not sure they even have the personnel to release something that isn't an MMORPG anymore.

I know, it would be epic. One of the downsides of me giving up all drugs is that the Big Lebowski isn't quite the same when you're not stoned out of your mind.

It's possible that's for PR reasons. WoW is the current Warcraft game and there hasn't been another for ten years. That's what people know.

Looking at Wikipedia, Warcraft novels since 2006 have been titled World of Warcraft, before that Warcraft. I haven't read any of them, but I imagine there's no huge difference between the two (in fact The Chronicles of War encompass books titled both Warcraft and World of Warcraft).

Why make this film at all, WOW's popularity has diminished overtime its not the talked about game as it was back in 2004-07.

Whatever audiance they hoped to get has already moved on to other things.
