I have to admit that Boll did make the best videogame movie ever.

Postal was exactly what the people at Running With Scissors wanted. Everything and everyone else tries the 'Hollywood knows best' approach and end up with movies that only bear a passing resemblance to the games they're based on.

I have liked Uwe Boll and some of his movies. I liked In the name of the king a dungeon siege tale, as well as Blackwoods.

Postal was a terrible movie.

That's just it, Postal was a terrible game, that's why he was able to make it the best game movie ever. It fits the game perfectly.

Elsewhere we end up with things like Max Payne where they go "hey, lets make that guy black and take the whole name of the drug WAAAAAAY too literally!". Or the Resident Evil series which is one ongoing plea of "I did good, will you fuck me now?" from Anderson to his wife. Or Doom, which is "hey lets make this resident evil... IN SPAAAAAACE"

tinyE: You've never seen Evil Dead 1 & 2 I presume. Yes the Spider-Man movies were silly but we must never forget the true Sam Raimi that gave us girls being violated by trees and severed hands try to kill their former owners.
I don't remember, probably not. But his Drag Me to Hell was mediocre at best. The trend is dangerous, for uncle Sam.

No argument there, which I suppose makes my Evil Dead argument that much more sad. From genius to hack in such a short time. :(

I actually think Uwe Boll has made better video game movies than the likes of that Max Payne movie.

I just sent him an e-mail asking him if he would post on GOG.com or do a Q+A session with GOG about his Bloodrayne and Postal movies. (No joke, i actually have been in contact with him via e-mail since about 2008)

Oh Shit! I suppose I'd better go delete all the crap I've given him in this thread!

I wouldn't feel bad about it if i were you. What i have tried to do is change how people feel about his movies, and he would probably be ok with answering questions. That's if he has the time. I doubt he will post here, but he will read my e-mail in the near future :)

It would be cool to have his movies of Bloodrayne and Postal as extra's wouldn't it?

The thing is that I actually love his movies. I love most movies that most people consider crap because I base the value of a movie on it's ability to entertain. I give him and a lot of other filmakers (Andy Sedaris and Roger Coreman come to mind) crap when in fact I will stop whatever I'm doing to watch anything written, directed, or produced by any of them.

Question: is it a Warcraft movie, or a World of Warcraft movie? If I'm lucky it's the former and everyone is just using the title of the MMO without thinking. The Warcraft universe has a boatload of lore to use, much of which hasn't been depicted in games. World of Warcraft, not quite as much.

This has always been talked about as a "WOW" movie and I even double checked a couple articles to make sure I wasn't getting it wrong. With that said, everyone could be "getting it wrong", but apparently are all making the exact same mistake, if so:)

That may be, but the first Mortal Kombat movie got the tone of the game perfectly, I feel. I still count the Mortal Kombat movie as the best vifeogame to movie adaptation.
Also, Tron. Movie might have been before the arcade game though. Original, not new one.

Wait, I liked MK but there was major difference there, Raiden went from villain to good guy.

orcishgamer: So I didn't see a thread mentioning this and the news hit a couple of major geek outlets earlier this week.

They picked... Duncan Jones.

If you're saying, "who da fuck?" He's the director of Source Code and The Moon. Now you're saying, "Those are good flicks!" I totally agree but...

He seems to make very cerebral, character driven flicks that don't appeal to a wide audience. Isn't that exactly the opposite of what they need in the director of a WOW Movie/ I mean supposing they don't want it to be a totally ham-fisted flop.

EDIT: News article http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/01/world-warcraft-movie-jones/
I was actually wondering why they didn't just get a talent commensurate with the quality that is WoW. Was Uwe, not available when they wanted to shoot? There's nothing quite like pissing on the corpse of Blizzard now that it's been pretty much completely obliterated.
