Hi All,

hope you can help me on the latest issues with poor Direct2Drive.
From today, they are redirecting german customers from direct2drive.co.uk automatically to direct2drive.de.

Worst thing is that they have separate databases and all my games are not in my account on .de.

I have logged a support ticket for that, but maybe someone of you have a solution.

I have disables meta-refresh and javascript, tried to change my regional settings in windows.

Last option I would know is a proxy, but this is a way I don't really like to do, as about 99% of all proxies are not secure and they could just log and fetch my account information.

What happens when you try D2D.com (US) or EU one? Is it the same as the UK one? The UK and US sites do share the same games database. I expect though, that the US site will also unfortunately redirect you as I see they have removed the flag icon that allowed people to easily switch sites and log in information does not appear to be shared across sites anymore.

If the redirect is IP based, then changing regional settings isn't going to help you. And if the redirect is being performed by a server side script (by asp perhaps) then you're probably not going to be able to block it.

So that really does only leave you with the option of changing your IP address via either proxy or VPN.
Thank you for this info.

.com does the same shit.
I tried to use a somehow secure proxy to access the US Site and got my serial number I wanted. But with this step, Direct2Drive died for me now.
Yeah if this truly intentional and not a fuck up, then that's just utter crap. Especially as you're denied access to your previously purchased games as a result. And I don't blame you for not wanting to purchase from them anymore as a result.

I personally stopped purchasing from them when they sold me a game in my region only to later decide they weren't going to honor the purchase, refunding me without warning. That sort of move never sits well with me.

Still in light of this recent change, I'll be making local backups of all my D2D games and their serial keys in case they decide they don't want international customers without a local D2D site using their service anymore.
the only reason i buyed anything from them is that the uk and us site had cheaper prices on some games. and the best sales where never on the eu site. hell, even some games are missing on .eu!

bye bye d2d
Ehh, they did something, now the site always redirects me to the UK site. And it looks like they closed the EU site.

looks like they make seperate sites for all european countries....lol....
yup, as a Brit who lives abroad this is incredibly fustrating. I wonder if this is a knock on from the cr%p that Brink stirred up the other week? Well, they've lost another customer if it is intentional, and I will be writing to them to find out how they expect me to access my account with all my games on it...

If you're in Japan, you should still be able to access the UK site. I certainly can. Not only that but you should also be able to access the .com site and both sites share the same database in terms of purchase history.

Does anyone live in France, Italy, etc.? I'd like to know where you get redirected to. As I need to consider whether I have to stop tracking EU prices for D2D on Didimatic. In other words, if I can't find the domains/how to access those prices, support for tracking them will have to be dropped.
I can access .com, .co.uk, .eu, and .de without being redirected to another, though I don't have an account so I don't know whether the redirect happens only once a user logs in. Although the "Shop D2D" button that appears on .eu points to .com and the "View My Account" button points to .eu...

It happens as soon as you enter the site. Didimatic can no longer track EU or UK sales due to the server having a US IP address. And that causes it to redirect to the US site.
In the UK, going to .com redirects you to .co.uk. However, .de doesn't redirect. It's bum, essentually.
Why use D2D? Steam and GOG is good for me. D2D has DRM aswell right?
Rumours abound that IGN is selling Direct2Drive to Gamefly...
Wow, first Impulse sold, now D2D xD
