predcon: Now that I play the HD version, I don't notice any difference from the old v1.08 version. I mean, yeah, the text is larger, the menu is different, and the music in Dink's house is different, but I don't notice overall improvement in graphic performance. Not enough to warrant an "HD" label. Maybe an "Enhanced" label, but not "HD".
hedwards: I suppose you wouldn't be happy with Zork HD unless it had actual graphics either.
I didn't say I wasn't happy with it, I just meant that I think people are getting a little trigger-happy with their "HD" label-makers. I mean, "HD" means "Hi-Def", or High Definition, and should only be used to denote games that have had their graphics reworked to "High Definition" specs, as in anything 720p or greater. If the only new features are mp3 music replacing MIDI and upgrading from 8-bit to 16-bit sprites (example, a failed/cancelled fangame called Zelda 2 Enhanced, which offered SNES-grade sprites and tiles, and basic parallax scrolling, as opposed to the original NES sprites), then the proper label would be "Enhanced".
As for "Zork HD", I think calling a text adventure "HD" is purely for humour value. Kinda like if someone made "Minesweeper HD" or "Tic-Tac-Toe HD". Actually, I think there is a Minesweeper HD out there somewhere.
