reaver894: The Butcher with an underpowered sorcerer is harder.

Fenixp: I have nightmares about Butcher. Definitely one of the more difficult bosses of my gaming history...
The Butcher is responsible for my having quit Diablo every time I've tried it over the years. He is simply extremely poorly designed. "Yeah, here's your next mission. Please go and kill this monster, which you will find on the next level of the dungeon. What we won't tell you is that you're not actually capable of killing him yet, so you should bypass him completely the first time around and go clear out the three levels below that first, then go back and deal with him."

Now that I know this, I suppose I should go back and give it another try one of these days.

tinyE: Of course the last time I faced Durial was with a tricked out summoning Necromancer. I had 8 skeletons and Amplify Damage. She went down in under a minute and I think I only lost 2 of my 8 skeletons.
She..? Wait, I thought Duriel was male? (not that it matters much when you're THAT ugly of a beast)

reaver894: I heard they both plowed Andariel
When they weren't busy giving wedgies to Rakanishu in the locker room, yes.

valdaintheking: Yeah, he's not possible to defeat in my game. He always triggers the block animation instead of hitting my rogue. I very rarely hit him but sometimes I can hit him 3 or 4 times with my hammer. I do 35-50 damage and have 200 health with 92 armor. 30% resistance to all elements. 100% chance to hit.

I honestly spent 2 hours fighting him and going back to level 15 with town portal.

In diablo 2 he was at least hard but able to beat. I enjoyed the rest of my experience with game so I got my money's worth. Maybe blizzard should make a repatch and make him possible to beat for MOST people.
Why the hell would you melee with a rogue? A rogue is usually a ranged character. Though it's easiest to kill him with a mage: Teleport in, nova/fireball/etc, teleport out, rinse and repeat.
But he's definitely kill-able with any type of character. You just need a high enough level and the right combination of Weapons/Armor.
Hell, i've even killed him on nightmare difficulty a couple of times.

dont skip the butcher if you are a warrior his weapon drop is good for a lot of levels , just get behind a wall because he can't enter doors just whip out a bow or spell behind the wall and kill him , clear out the area first before opening his door

i just installed the game myself lol the dupe bug still exists shocking they did not fix it

Get a bow and trap him on the stairs to level 3. he is dumb and keeps walking towards you but he is stuck all you do is stand there for 5 mins turning him into a pin cushion

Actually the butcher is pretty easy with a non-melee character. Just lure him somewhere where you can shoot him but close a door in front of him. The Skeleton King on the other hand open the door. Imagine my surprise the first time :)

liquidsnakehpks: yeah in the initial versions of the game duriel was major chance of dying that freaked out hardcore difficulty players haha
That was my first death in D2 single player.. LOL I faced him without a single skill and without thawing potions (no CbF items yet).

liquidsnakehpks: skeleton king was kinda something for first timers , his height in the game just freaked me out

Yeah, that was scary too! With its "infinite" skeleton army.. woa the memories : )
D1 wouldn't have been so great without these monsters (and the great sounds\music)

Exactly, and even they can temporarily grab a bow just to kill him.
Door opening boss = pure terror XD

I just checked, you're right. Durial is a dude.
unbelievable lol simply unbelievable , i leveled up to lv10 as a warrior and had decent equips and took on the butcher head to head and won , i go down the next level and click on a innocent barrel that explodes along with the rest of the barrels killing me.... any other reasons why diablo is so awesome ?

Never underestimate the "innocent" barrels, expecially in group!
Advice: break one on the edge, diagonally :P
