Am I the only one that thought (at least during the first few dozen playthroughs) that The Butcher was the biggest pain in the ass in the game?

Of course the last time I faced Durial was with a tricked out summoning Necromancer. I had 8 skeletons and Amplify Damage. She went down in under a minute and I think I only lost 2 of my 8 skeletons.

I got a bloody nose in my first fight with Diablo in my first run too. I played a wizard with emphasis on fire magic and apparently Diablo has immunity against one randomly choosen elemental damage. Which sucks if it is fire and you are a fire mage.

I always thought this was a pretty stupid idea.

It's actually not, curiously enough. Diablo can be killed with sufficiently leveld firebolts, and the fastest way to take him down would be volley of fireballs.

That reminds me, when playing Diablo 2 this is a silly little thing you can do to amuse little kids, or me.
When you are playing as the Barbarian, "Leap" of course causes damage to anyone you land near; not enough to really hurt anyone but just enough to make them flinch and have a little blood shoot out, which actually looks exactly like you've just given them a bloody nose. :D

Assuming vanilla Diablo and not Hellfire, Holy Bolt is a better choice.

Can anyone get it to run on Windows 7, 64-bit machines? I tried to run it and give it a go again but it would always crash right after startup. What I mean is, the game would look like it's starting, i.e. the screen would turn black, then it would just freeze and do nothing. And I tried it on both of my new builds, although not on my laptop.

I was able to get Diablo II running on said machines, but not I.

It is possible to run Diablo on 64-bit Win7, yes. I've played it with the mod "The Hell" most recently, but before that I had the base game up and running by itself. Have you installed the latest patch? That would be the first thing to check. Blizzard FTP with patches etc (d109_x64.reg fixes an issue with colours in 64-bit Win 7)

going to install my diablo 1 copy now on 64bit windows 7 will let you know the result
