So I had some birthday money left over, and GameStop reduced the price on their Battle Chest. Considering Diablo II popularized perhaps my favorite game genre, I decided to purchase it. It is now sitting beside me - a weighty box full of promise and hope and delight, I am savoring the moment - will it be as good as I expected? Will I revel in the delight of discovering the mythical Fifth Favorite Game of All Time? (My top five currently languish with an empty slot). What classes will I play? Will the graphics be too dated to be enjoyable? Will my CD key already be taken, forcing me to deal with hellish customer service rigamarole when I only wish to play? What does a druid look like? Is it really better than Torchlight? edit: Why is my post marked as a question again?

So many questions. When I unbox it, I'll probably post pictures and commentary - adding Diablo II to my gaming collection is really a bit of a momentous occasion for me.

edit

Here we are. Pictures!

The Exterior: The box art is amazing, but that's kind of a 'duh'. I like how they include the original box art in a special box art designed for the Battle Chest, as hokey as it might seem.

The Back: Neat emblem. Screenshots. Some bragging about reviews. Small white box that says tiny splashes of red will corrupt my soul.

The Tray: Everything packed in. I spazzed out sitting right here when I realized the idiot at GameStop didn't have a clue - there is a full size guide in there, not the small nasty remade guide!

The Guide: It isss oursss....our own...our...preshussssss...

Everything: So many goodies!

Well, I doubt you'll be crippingly disappointed, I'm sure you know quite a bit about the game already so you'll have realistic expectations of it. Go for it, and report back with news! :)

Oh, and do feel free to mark me as the solution if you so wish. :P

See, that's why it was marked as a question. So the first person to offer comfort and reassurance would be adequately rewarded with a green star.
Burn the poster! Steal his Battlechest! Give it to me! /rage

Dammit, its so hard to find Battlechest editions of Diablo and Starcraft here in Europe.

That stinks - they aren't really rare here, just expensive.
damn they are rare actually, especially the manuals etc good that you got a nice one, make sure you register your keys asap so that you can download them digitally and not depend on the disks, i lost mine a long time back but can digitally download them from blizzard
http://us.battle.net/en/

-create a battle net account
-register your keys
and then preserve the disks forever***
diablo 2 rocks even today love it, too bad it did not any alignments like nwn eh? :D, but the loot is awesome

No, they aren't separate. And I haven't taken the pictures - I haven't unboxed it yet.

There's really no reason to own them, the only added value is the strategy guides. The budget versions on eBay do just fine.

If you want the games, I have some spare copies of them that I'd be willing to trade. ;p
You make me feel guilty for throwing the CDs away after I registered my serial with Battle.net. My copies are forever connected to the interwebs now, no need for physical wastes of space.

Foxhack:
I'm good. ;)

I already bought regular RoC / TFT / SC+BW editions, so I kind of gave up on the idea to buy every game's Battlechest edition out there.

But all you do is right click! What is there to understand?!
Wow, they actually lowered the price on it? For years every time I've checked the cheapest the D2 battle chest has been is $40. Silly.

Edit: Just checked, the lowered the price by a whopping $10! Come on, Blizz!
