Depends on the version... The "new" releases don't include it, the older ones do. It probably has to do with the fact that Diablo is not really compatible with Vista and 7, and the DRM used causes some issues with Battle.Net.

Maybe you folks can help - loaded it up, was delighted with character selection, chose Barbarian, and went into the game. Now I have bizarre colored dots everywhere!

Update the game to the latest version. Go into its installation folder, and set the exe to be run as an administrator always, and in XP / 2000 / 98 compatibility mode (try which of these will work).

Also, before you run the game, right click on the desktop and click Screen Resolution. Then just minimize this windows, let it be in the background. Trust me, it works for some dumb reason.

And guys, it's fixed - found the fix on the net, I had to set it to 256 color compatibility.

Screw 1.09 patch, use whatever patch version before the Necromancer's Corpse Explosion and Blood Golem got nerfed, Necros were gods before that!

i have always enjoyed getting the collector's editions of Blizzard's games. though WoW was the last one I bought. Diablo 2 is a great game, but I stopped playing after the a patch so many years ago that made the game focus more on ladder characters then people that just want to play the game. It really was a better game in the past.

Monsters are respawning. I thought someone told me they don't respawn? Not that I mind or anything, it's just odd.

You can make them respawn by choosing some sort of new option for the area, you get a new map with monsters in it. It's been so long I don't really recall how it works in single player (I shit you not, I played that game on my Voodoo 3 2000 video card).

monsters respawn only when you reload the game but never in the same session unless they are revived
btw which char did you choose
btw if you feel the game is too easy just press enter and type in /players 8 in single player
you should see a message saying
"players set to 8" now the game will be played as if there were 8 players extra xp, loot,difficulty

btw i installed the game and logged into b net and played the game for hours i had no problems with windows 7 strange that you had the color problems
