You're right, i'm really trying too. The only reason why i am really upset is the way this company does business, take Blizcon for example, since '08 getting tickets is almost an impossible feat. It seems that everything that they do seems to go awry. There are more examples, but what's the point. I never seen a company that teases it loyal fanbase like this. I hope this is ironed out by the fifreen of May.

That is sort of the whole point of this weekend, to iron out server issues before release by stressing the servers as much as possible. Not something to really get fussed over, as it is to be expected, especially given the popularity of the series.

SC2's beta had similar issues too, but they were fixed. Don't worry, this one isn't a simple open beta that people get to play, but just a stress test for a few days, to see how the servers handle.

Those with closed beta accounts will be able to play the game until the 1th of May.

Got in half an hour ago or so. Seems pretty nice so far. It locks up sometimes when combat starts but I'm assuming that's because it's not completely done downloading yet. Seems to happen less and less as I go on, just new stuff.

Well, yea, the game is being released on the 15th of May. Just like with SC2, the beta will be ending two weeks before release (IIRC).

I would like to play this beta but I won't create an account just to play the game for couple of hours. I'll pass.

Now if only Blizzard realized that this is Diablo and not WoD, I might consider playing it. Seriously, WoW has pretty much destroyed every game that Blizzard has produced since then. Diablo was always a Singleplayer experience for some of us and removing it sucks.

What's more, they had many years to create a better Starcraft and they gave us that crap SC2, which is more like Starcraft 1.5 with nothing particularly compelling to justify the purchase. At least with the original they gave us 3 races, whereas we'll have to buy multiple games if that's what we want.

Um, I assume you mean for the main campaign? You can play any race in the multiplayer from what I know of it, which is a rather big part of the game these days. Also, as long as the campaign is a worthy game in itself, the 3 races thing just sounds like a pickup line for the people who want to complain about the game. (not that i have played the campaign) Basically only the main campaign restricts you to Humans.

A stress test beta 2 weeks before launch... Sounds like advertising to me, this is not a stress test. There's nothing wrong with playing it if one wants, I just get a bit offended by the disingenuous nature of these.

Yeah, mostly, the parts of the main campaign I played were really, really bad. I'm not really sure why it took them so long to release the game as I couldn't find anything that was actually an improvement over the previous game other than graphics. It was apparent that all the people involved with making SC a fun game to play singleplayer had long since left the company.

I hope that Diablo 3 isn't as bad as SC2 was, but given that they've turned it into an MMORPG, I'm not sure I'm going to bother. I might play the starter edition, but Diablo will always be a singleplayer experience to me. Making multiplayer compulsory pretty much destroys the part of the game that many of us grew up with.

That being said, the only thing that's really stopping me from trying the open beta is the lack of a computer powerful enough to run it. I'd prefer to play it a bit before making a judgment on it, although I'm not terribly optimistic about the features they're saying are going to be in the game.

If Starcraft 2 is for kids, then every game is for kids. Oh, and those kids tend to win XXX,XXX money while playing the game that is for kids. :p
No need to rush if you don't have a capable machine. Just wait for the Starter edition.
The campaign isn't restricted only to Terrans. There are no restrictions, since the other campaigns are still being worked on (the Zerg and the Protoss ones).

Oh, and the game has 29 missions (the first one had 10 for each race). I think it is better this way, it allows for the story to be developed in more details.

We're all throwing in personal preferences, so, I'll say that the campaign was awesome. Every mission was great. And I consider the game to be the best RTS ever done.

EDIT: Before someone says, "$60 for only one race!?", I say "go away". I don't care if you're after single player only, for that money you get the whole package, and the multiplayer stuff is like in no other game (endless modding possibilities thanks to the editor, and eSports compatible).
